Learn from the experts! Work side-by-side practicing the latest techniques.

Deformity in the adult spine is occurring with increased prevalence, leading to more surgeries for deformity in adults. This course will review the indications for appropriate surgery, as well as the spectrum of treatment techniques. Hot topics include a comprehensive approach to osteotomies for realignment to the spine, discussion of surgical planning to set appropriate goals of care, and alternative approaches to achieve sagittal plane realignment.

Spend one full day in the lab performing complex techniques:

• Smith-Petersen Posterior Column Osteotomy

• Thoracic Lumbar Pedicle Screw Placement

• Pedicle Subtraction Osteotomy (PSO)

• Vertebral Column Resection (VCR)

• Lateral approach XLIF, DLIF, PSOAS

• Iliac Fixation

Who should take this course?

Orthopaedic surgeons training as fellows in spine surgery, or those interested in expanding their experience with complex reconstruction.

At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:• Perform clinical and radiographic evaluation for patients with cervical, thoracic, and

lumbar spinal deformity, including scoliosis and sagittal malalignment

• Perform surgical treatment for spinal deformities using complex osteotomies and other techniques

• Determine the appropriate treatment for common complications

• Formulate a treatment plan for perioperative care using outcome measurement tools

• Recognize the cost and value of treating spinal deformity
