NOTICE TO TAXPATEES.—Not ice is hereby given tha t the assess-men t rolls of the real and personal estate of the City and County of 'New T o r k for the year 1S69 will be open for inspection and revision on and aftei* Monday, J a n u a r y 11,1869, and will remain open till the SOth day of April, 1SG9, for t h e correction of errors and the equalization of the assessments of the aforesaid real and personal estate of. the City and County of New T o r k . All per-sons believing themselves to be aggrieved m u s t make application t o the commissioners dur ing the period above mentioned,-in order to obtain the relief provided by law. The act of .1859 provides " d u r i n g the t ime the books' shall be open to public inspection, as hereinbefore . p ro -vided, application may be made by any person considbri! ing himself aggrieved by tbe assessed valuation of his^ifeal or personal estate, t o have the same corrected.'* If such application be made in relation to the assessed v.iluation of real estate i t mus t be made in writ ing, s t i t ing the ground of objection thereto, and thereupon tlie Com-missioners shall examine into the complaint, ahd if in thei r judgment , the assessment is erroneous, they shall cause the same to bo corrected. I f such application be made in relation to the assessed valuation of personal es-tate , the applicant shall be examined uudcr oath by the said Commissioners, who shall be authorized to administer such oaths, or any of t h e m ; and if, in his or their judg-ment , the assessment is erroneous, they shall cause the same to be corrected, and fix the amount of such assess-ment as they may believe to be jus t , and declare their de-cision thereon within th i r ty days after such application shall have been made to them*.
