1 PRESENTATION

This manual describes the operation of the DALI protocol compatible programmer for managing, installing and servicing networks controlled by the Casambi module and other objects capable of connecting to a bus of this type.

Modern lighting system cannot be limited to simply turning lights on and off. Lighting systems today are an integral element of the comfort of a location and its power management, a consideration which has given rise to the DALI (digital addressable lighting interface) control standard.

DALI is the outcome of a collaboration within the lighting industry and establishes a shared standard for the industry as a whole. DALI is thus not a system, but rather defines an interface for digital communications between a control module and the various electronic power supplies. It has therefore been included in EN 60929 for electronic power supplies as Annex E4, thus ensuring interchangeability between electronic PSU's made by different manufacturers.

A.A.G. Stucchi has developed a tool for configuring the Dali network during installation of the lighting equipment, called the ONETRACK Programmer. The programming tool, intended for System Integrators, scans the devices connected to the bus and handles or re-addresses them. This programming tool includes Android and iOS apps which guide the user in his use of the system.

The data is transmitted on the bus over the wires marked “D+” and “D-“.The “Idle” (standby) voltage is described in the above table. When data is sent over the bus, connected DALI systems receive a pulse train similar to the following:

This information contains the address to which the data is being sent.

The electrical signal is generated by the programmer and generates the data by shorting the 2 signals: “D+” and “D-“.

3 DALI LAMP BRIGHTNESS CONTROL PAGE

This section explains how to set the brightness of the lamps in broadcast or single point mode, using the 64 addresses available with the DALI protocol.

Let's review the touch screen functions:

Tap the icon

The lamp whose address is shown above the icon switches to maximum

brightness; if you tap on it again, the lamp turns off.

Let's take a closer look at these functions.

The menu is structured as follows:

Test On/Off Light

Configure Group Lamps

Search Unandressed Lamps

Search Lamps

Clear Lamp

CleaList Lamp

Queries the status and configuration of the lamp.

The system searches for lamps which have a logical address - which are therefore already configured.

This option deletes the selected lamp from the bus.

This option deletes all lamps on the bus.

This option replaces the logical address assigned during the scan.

This option visually locates the lamp.

This search is slower since it scans randomly to obtain a response from the devices. The system now assigns addresses to the devices in increasing order from 0 to 63.

The system searches for lamps which have not been installed and configured on the DALI bus.

This DALI function groups a set of logical addresses into a single group address.

Lamp group configuration service.

Lamp location service - turns all lamps on the bus on and off automatically.

Page 16: A.A.G. Stucchi Light Management App User Manual

The DALI protocol has 64 logical addresses (“0” to “63”), so that up to 64 lamps can be installed(per the Dali specification).

4.1 SEARCH LAMPS

When this option is selected, the application will search for all previously addressed and configured lamps on the bus.

This search only scans previously assigned addresses.

Select Stop Searching Lamps to stop the scan.

4.2 SEARCH UNADDRESSED LAMPS

When this option is selected, the application will search for any lamps on the bus which have NOT been addressedand configured.

An unconfigured DALI device responds to the dimming command in broadcast mode only; no access requests are considered since the device does not have a logical address. This scan is slower than the previous one; the system first scans for devices on the bus to check for active logical addresses, and then scans for unaddressed devices. When the application finds a new device, it assigns it a free logical address in increasing order.

The service displays as follows:

A.A.G. Stucchi Light Management App User Manual

Page 18: A.A.G. Stucchi Light Management App User Manual

18www.aagstucchi.it

When the scan terminates, the following message displays:

4.3 CLEAR LAMP

When this option is selected, the application sends the delete command over the bus and the selected lamp's logical address is cancelled. You must first select the lamp to delete its logical address.

The application will prompt you to confirm the deletion option.

If you then want to re-install the lamp, use the Search Unaddressed Lamps option

Press No to abort the operation.Press Yes to delete the lamp.

4.5 MODIFY LAMPS ADDRESS

This option allows you to modify the logical addresses assigned to the listed lamps during the scan.

Select Modify Lamps Address to display a new list of lamps in the positions assigned during the scan.

The menu changes, and Modify Lamps Address is replaced by List Lamps Address.

To edit an address, select a lamp and follow the instructions:

Select Test On/Off Light to display a new list of lamps in the positions assigned during the scan.

Select a lamp to display the on/off test option.

Items which display (n) Free are unassigned addresses.

4.7 CONFIGURE GROUP LAMPS

This option enables you to group sets of lamps on the Dali bus together, so that they can be controlled using a single group address. The DALI protocol provides for up to 16 groups of lamps, but the application is limited to 4 groups.A group can be represented graphically as follows:

Select Configure Group Lamps to run a service which reads the configuration of the DALI network.
