FacultyMichael Gillette, Ph.D: Dr. Gillette is a dynamic speaker in the field of Bioethics. Dr. Gillette has received a number of teaching awards including the Medical College of Virginia Outstanding Teacher Award in both 1999 and 2000 and the Excellence in Teaching Award from the MCV Medical Class of 2002.

Vicki Good, RN, MSN, CENP: Vicki is currently the president for National AACN. She has served on the AACN board from 2008 to 2011 and as treasurer from 2009-2010. She conceptualizes and develops various safety programs, including the patient safety, medication safety and infection prevention offices for CoxHealth. Vicki’s theme for National AACN is “Stepping forward…”

Jeremy Hardison, MD: Dr. Hardison joined Lynchburg Pulmonary Associates in 2006 after completing a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Duke University. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine. Dr. Hardison is Centra's medical director of Respiratory Therapy, Pulmonary Rehabilitation and The Neurological Intensive Care Unit at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Dana Woody, RN, MSN: Dana received her BSN and MSN at Lynchburg College. She worked in pediatrics and recently served as the Heart Failure coordinator at Centra. She joined the faculty at Liberty University July of this year.

Cindy Zerfoss, RN, MSN, CNS, ACNP: Cindy graduated from UVA 1993 with MSN and practiced as critical care clinical educator and clinical nurse specialist with a focus on critical care pulmonary. She graduated from Duke University Medical Center 2000 with post-masters certificate in the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program. Currently employed at Centra Neuroscience Center.

Objectives

This seminar will provide an opportunity for nurses and other health care professionals to:1. Expand their knowledge of current

practice standards.2. Examine issues and trends that influence

care delivery and practice.3. Explore strategies to survive the current

changes in nursing practice and health care management.

CE Credits

Centra’s Professional Nursing Development is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Virginia Nurses Association Continuing Education Approval Committee, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation VNA # 0092. 5.5 nursing contact hours will be available upon completion of the seminar (60 minutes = 1 contact hour).
