To Provide Strength For Sobriety - Aa To Provide Strength For Sobriety - Aa Recovery GiftsRecovery Gifts

Alcoholics Anonymous is an organization which helps people, be it men or women, to recover from alcoholism. Alcohol and drugs weaken a person. So these meetings help people by giving them strength and encouragement to get rid of their drinking habits. It is not an easy task. For some people, it takes years and years to get sober. Many people get tired of going to the meetings and not getting the results they hoped for. So then the organization of AA decided to reward people with some kind of mementos that would then encourage them to continue on the very journey of sobriety.

The very purpose of these mementos is to give strength and courage to the people. These tokens come in various forms. Medallions, chips, jewelry, books, cards and other fun stuff are given to the members.

AA medallions - also known as sobriety coins - are the size of a poker chip. These coins mark the exact amount of sobriety time people have achieved. There are different colored chips to show how far along the person has come in his sobriety and a particular color constitutes the range of time that person has been sober. There are thirteen basic coins that are given to the members in the first year of their sobriety. They are; Silver chip, Red chip, dark Gold chip, Green chip, Purple chip, Pink chip, Blue chip, Copper chip, bright Gold chip and Bronze chip. Bronze chip is given to the person who has reached one year of sobriety.

AA chips themselves do not make a person sober. It’s the meaning and the purpose behind it that is important. When an alcoholic receives a coin or a chip for one month, or three, or even a longer period of time, these tokens give him or her sense of pride for staying sober as long as they have. It is a great boost to their ego. It gives them motivation and encourages them to continue on this path of sobriety. These medallions represent the will and desire that a person has to quit drinking no matter what. If a person should feel the desire to drink again all they have to do is just take a look at their coin to remind them of how far along they have come. It represents the progress of a person and motivates them to continue.

Also there is AA jewelry like rings, pendants, and necklaces which are given for the same purpose of achieving complete sobriety. There are men’s rings, women’s rings, recovery pendants, recovery necklaces, and others. These are a symbol of the restraint and the courage of the person. Recovery gifts are some of the most wonderful gestures. These things are very significant to the people who have struggled to achieve them. These tokens give the person a sense of achievement and accomplishment which is otherwise not there. These little sobriety presents play a huge role in the recovery of a person. It reminds them of all the hardships they have gone through and also gives them courage to stay on the path of sobriety. You can visit http://www.my12stepstore.com/ to know more about them.
