SURPASS hiE 9200 building blocks SURPASS hiE 9200 consists of a centralsubsystem and IP subsystems and can beoptionally extended by a TDM switchingsubsystem. The central components pro-vide call and features control for theentire system, independently of whetherIP or TDM is used. The SS7 control ter-minates SS7 connections based on IP orTDM, while the IP subsystems handleconnection control for voice or multime-dia in the IP network. State-of-the-artprotocols such as SIP or H.248 / MEGACOare used to control subscribers or gate-ways and to connect to applicationservers and other softswitches. The TDMsubsystems offer TDM trunk and sub-scriber interfaces interconnected via anon-blocking TDM switching network.

SURPASS hiE 9200 can be deployedas 100 % TDM-less, footprint-optimizedhardware mainly based on commercialplatforms.

Flexible management You can simplify network operation taskswith SURPASS hiE 9200 using our state-of-the-art network management system.With NetManager, your network opera-tion is simple and effective, and coversall necessary tasks, as the NetManagersupports NGN and TDM simultaneously.

Highest reliability SURPASS hiE 9200 combines TDM carrier-class availability with state-of-the-artNGN services and features, providing99.999 % or greater availability for bothSURPASS hiE 9200 and its TDM extension.Based on a modular design with full hard-ware redundancy, software updates canbe introduced on the fly without inter-rupting service. Moreover, if SURPASS hiE 9200 runs as a pure IP softswitch, its

IP controlAccess gateways providing all types of dif-ferent interfaces such as POTS, ISDN, PRI,PBX or V5.2 can be placed anywhere inthe network using H.248 / MEGACO orSiemens optimized ACP. The H.248 /MEGACO can also be applied for controlof CGPs / IADs. Media gateways are usedto mediate between the TDM and IPworld, providing top speech quality controlled via MGCP or H.248/MEGACO.Connections to other softswitches arerealized using SIP-I. SIP subscribers areintegrated via application servers, towhich SURPASS hiE 9200 provides an SIPinterface to inter-operate. IN-applicationservers placed anywhere in the networkcan use the SURPASS hiE 9200 resourcesto provide new and innovative servicesthat communicate via INAP.

TDM connectionTDM subscribers can be connecteddirectly to SURPASS hiE 9200 using stan-dard TDM interfaces such as ISDN, R2,POTS and V5.x. Trunk connections usingSS7, R2, No.5, etc. are terminated atSURPASS hiE 9200, which provides local,transit and international connectioncapabilities. The Remote Switching Unit(RSU) can serve more than 50,000 sub-scribers as an integral part of SURPASShiE 9200, significantly reducing theamount of managed network elements.

All features for all subscribersWhether they are connected to the TDMor NGN, you can offer your customersthe full range of CLASS 5 subscriber fea-tures as well as CENTREX. These include: CLIP, CLIR, Call Forwarding Call Waiting, Call Hold, Call Rejection Call Completion on Busy / No Reply SMS for fixed networks
