DESCRIPTION

Airbus A380 Technical Training Manual (TTM)Full DocumentNew VersionA380-LEVEL I - ATA 25 Equipment_FurnishingsThe first A380 technical manual, the "Airplane Characteristics for Airport Planning," was released this month. It can be consulted and/or downloaded from the A380 Family page on Airbus' web site at www.airbus.com. This is the first time a technical manual of this nature has been made available so early, some three years before the first flight of the aircraft. The Airplane Characteristics manual provides specific A380 data needed by airport authorities and planners to support the operation of the A380 within their airports. Data such as airplane dimensions, take off and landing distances, terminal operations data, taxiing, parking and pavement loading requirements are provided for the A380-800 and A380-800F, the passenger and freighter versions of the A380.Airbus has been working with planning teams from 50 major airports in five continents to ensure smooth handling of the A380 when it enters service in 2006 and the Airplane Characteristics manual is a major support for this.Following release of this first manual and up to entry into service of the A380, Airbus will deliver a full range of technical data for the maintenance, engineering, material support and flight operations departments of A380 airline customers. Technical data for the A380 will be available in electronic format according to the most recent aviation industry standards, which are more efficient and user friendly. They will be accessible through Airbus On Line Services, the Airbus portal for Customer Support.

The Onboard Maintenance Terminal (OMT) and Onboard InformationTerminal (OIT) workstations are used for flight and maintenanceoperations without the need of onboard paper documentation for take-off,landing, cruise performance computation, weight & balance computation, and for the logbook entries. They also give access to operationaldocumentation, maintenance documentation, and navigation, approachand airport charts.

  • ESCAPE FACILITIES PRESENTATIONCabin Escape Facilities

In case of emergency for a quick evacuation, slide/raft assemblies arelocated at all upper and main deck cabin exits, except at the main deckoverwing exits which have an overwing slide/ramp combination, locatedin the fuselage fairing. All slide/rafts as well as the slide/ramp are double laned.Deployment of the slide is automatic when the door is opened with theevacuation system in the ARMED mode.A Manual Inflation Pushbutton (MIP), installed at the right hand side ofeach doorframe when looking outboard is only visible when the door isin the fully open position. This MIP lets get a manual deployment of theslide/raft/ramp when the automatic deployment system fails. The MIP comes on amber when the door is opened in the armed position.

Upper Deck Cabin Escape FacilitiesAll upper deck doors, U1L/R, U2L/R, U3L/R have a fuselage attachedslide/raft system, which is installed in a compartment underneath eachdoor. The slide/raft compartments are outside of the pressurized area andare only accessible from the outside. The slide/raft is packed into a container and carries at its rear upperend the inflation system. The container is attached to the fuselage by a flange and has a blowoutpanel, which follows the fuselage contour.Slide/raft containers are made so that they can only be installed intotheir correct location.

Main Deck Cabin Escape FacilitiesThe M1L/R, M2L/R, M4L/R and M5L/R doors have a door attachedslide raft system. The door-mounted packboard contains the inflationsystem. An extension slide is necessary at doors M1L/R, in order to cover thelarge range of sill heights coming from the different crash situations. In order to prevent an incorrect installation of slides, a mechanicalcoding pin system was developed to make sure that a slide raft unitcannot be physically installed to the wrong door.

Main Deck Overwing Cabin Escape FacilitiesM3L/R overwing doors have a sill height of approximately 1.4 metersover the wing.A slide/ramp is installed at these doors to get an exit over the wingand onto the ground. The slide/ramp has not been designed to be a raft and is not usedduring ditching as is would interfere with the other slides.
