Burrtec offers wildlife deterrent trash barrels to Bradbury residents at an additional monthly charge. Burrtec requires a three-month trial period for all issued barrels. The barrel has been constructed with a reinforced latching device that will prevent trash from spilling out of the barrel if tipped over by wildlife. However, these barrels will not entirely prevent a determined bear from prying open the barrel if the contents prove worth the effort.

Horse Manure DisposalManure must be hauled away weekly or fully composted in proper containers. Burrtec offers residents of Bradbury manure recycling pickup services. Call Burrtec Customer Service for more information.

Reminder: Green waste bins are for green waste only. Do not mix manure into those containers.

Christmas TreeCollection

Extra Holiday Waste

Burrtec will collect and recycle Christmas trees from single-family residences. Please place your tree at curbside after Christmas on your collection day. Burrtec will provide this service, for approximately a two-week period after Christmas Day. Trees 6 feet and over need to be cut in half. Please remove all ornaments, lights, and metal stands prior to placing your tree on the curb. Flocked trees will not be recycled. They will be collected as trash. Flocked trees 6 feet and over need to be cut in half.

Approximately 80% of your holiday trash is recyclable. All gift boxes, wrapping paper, greeting cards, and cardboard packaging are items that may be placed in your recycling barrel. Burrtec will collect your excess holiday trash and recyclables. For approximately one week beginning the day after Christmas, Thursday, you may place excess holiday trash/ recyclables in bags alongside your containers on your collection day.

Storms with heavy rainfall may cause debris flows and many other issues in our streets. In order to prevent trash and recycling barrels from adding to the issue, please consider the following guidelines

1. Be aware of storm and windy weather forecasts.

2. Be aware of potential storm water flows in and around your property.

3. Avoid placing barrels and bulky items where flows can create hazards. In swift moving waters, these items can float and rush out into the street.

4. Please place trash and recyclables in bags prior to throwing them in barrels. This will minimize spillage onto city streets.

Bears are attracted to anything smelly or edible, especially garbage. Bears are also attracted to beehives, orchards and gardens. Consider these tips to help make your home “bearproof”:

• Deodorize garbage container with bleach or ammonia.

• Separate food waste by keeping it in an air and odor tight container. Use a garbage disposal whenever possible. Freeze meat bones or other smelly items until pick-up day.

• Be sure to keep barbecue grills clean.

• Pick up fallen tree fruit, and put away food sources at night, such as pet food and bird feeders.

• Close windows at night on accessible ground floors and decks.

• Don’t leave food in or near a windowsill or on a counter near an open window.

• Securely block access to potential hibernation sites, such as crawl spaces under decks or buildings.
