A Workshop on How to Create a Good Proposal for JCI Indonesia Business Plan Competition Participants

Peserta Workshop Pembuatan Proposal JCI

In order to provide University of Brawijaya (UB) students particularly Faculty of Computer Sciences delegates who selected to compete in International Student Design Competition Kitakyushu Fukuoka Jepang, then organized a workshop on Saturday (1/Oct/2016).

A workshop titled "How to Create a Good Proposal" that Wins 2016 International Student Design Competition in Kitakyushu Fukuoka Japan (Digital City Kokura and Smart City}", followed by dozens of participants.

The workshop invited three speakers including two lecturers at Faculty of Computer Sciences H. Tibyani, ST., MT., Hanifah Muslimah Azzahra, S.Sn., M.Ds and also a lecturer at Department of Urban and Regional Planning Dr. Eng. Turminingtyas Ayu Rachmawati, ST., MT.

H. Tibyani as the event Head of Convener expected that by the workshop, participants will obtain ideas on proposal to be appointed and promoted to join in International Student Design Competition di Kitakyushu Fukuoka Jepang. On the occasion, Tibyani shared his knowledge about Kitakyushu which runs Eco-Town.

In 1960, Kitakyushu is a city that contaminated with high pollution due to industrial sector development which environmentally unfriendly.

But in 30 years afterwards, Kitakyushu could change to become a beautiful city due to eco-town project to be implemented. Various stages of strategy were implemented in that time frame.

The first strategy is by building a Low Carbon Urban Structure. Kitakyushu builds environmental friendly urban infrastructure by utilizing renewable energy sources like wind and solar power.

The second strategy is by developing culture or social habits and so environmentally conscious. Started from development of waste management infrastructure thus issuance of regulations and education for communities in the area to participate in separating household waste based on the kind that can easily biodegradable and which cannot be decomposed naturally.

The third strategy is educating industry which develops the business in the area. Each industry is mandatory to be able to process its waste thus when released in wild nature do not potentially damage the environment.

The fourth strategy is human resources development namely by giving sustainable education either in social, education or economy sphere and mass media information.

In the next session, Hanifah delivered presentation on creating visual design for City Branding. On the occasion, Hanifah lifted various strategies on city branding of several countries overseas and in Indonesia, such as New York, Bandung and also Malang. Hanifah invited participants to watch on the advantages and disadvantages of each city branding design in each city.

Meanwhile in the last session, Dr. Eng. Turminingtyas shared her knowledge about city standard to be mentioned as a smart city. Turminingtyas explained that there are three kinds of cities that based on directions of development of the landscapes. The first is decent stay city which safe and comfortable. The first type town should fulfill criteria including strong neighborhoods, walk-able, affordable, comfortable, cultural and good connectivity.

The second type of city is green city which climate and disaster resilience. Meanwhile the third type of the city is smart city which competitive and technology-based. The third type of city delivered by Turminingtyas should fulfill criteria including smart economy, smart people, smart governance, smart mobility, smart environment and smart living.

In the last session, participants who attended then formed groups and determining topics to be lifted in 2016 International Student Design Competition in Kitakyushu Fukuoka Japan. From the session, then formed six groups which of each consisted of three multidiscipline UB students including Faculty of Computer Sciences, Urban and Regional Planning and Architecture.

The six groups created proposals with a big theme on city planning but with various different case and theme details, including Integrated of Smart Trash Bin and Internet Waste Bank, Automatic Virtual Mapping Based on Local Content, Kokura City Child Care, Integrated Smart Waste Management System, Automatic Accident Detection and tracking System with Virtualization Map using Web GIS and Kokura Carbon Bank and Digital Tree. The six proposals prior to be submitted to the competition, was firstly reviewed by reviewer team including Dr. Eng. Fadly Ustman, ST., MT a lecturer at Urban and Regional Planning at Faculty of Engineering of University of Brawijaya and alumni of Miyazaki University, Dr. Eng. Fitri Utaminingrum, ST., MT a lecturer at Faculty of Computer Sciences and alumni of Hiroshima University and also Dr. Eng. Siti Sendari, ST., MT a lecturer at Electrical Engineering of the State University of Malang and alumni of Waseda University. [dna/Humas UB/trans. Denok]
