ARTSHUBisArtistsRep’sresourcesharingandcommunity-buildinginitiativesupportingPortlandtheatremakers,artsandeducationnonprofits,andcommunitygroups.ThemissionoftheArtsHubistocreateaculturalcenterbysupportingPortland’srichartisticecosystem.Programsandservicesincludebelowmarketratesforrehearsal,performance,andmeetingspace;sharedadministrativeworkspaceforindividualsandorganizations;andproductionservicessuchassetconstruction,scenicpainting,andprofessionaltechnicalsupportfromdesignthroughperformance.WeprioritizeartistsandorganizationsthatsupportART’svaluesofequity,diversity,andinclusion,andseektoprovideahomeforartistsandaudiencestotakecreativerisks.Whiletheprogram’soriginsixyearsagowasinresponsetoanopportunitytoshareunderutilizedperformancespace,wehavefoundthatthemostvitalandlastingimpactoftheArtsHubisthebustlingcommunitythathasbeenformed,andthemyriadwaysithasledtotheempowermentoflocalartistsandtheacceleratedgrowthofparticipatingorganizations.Inthe2018/19Season,over1,500eventswereheldinourbuildingby42localnonprofits,including11residentcompanies—380ArtsHubpublicevents,462rehearsals,422classesand306ARTevents.OurnewfacilityisbeingdesignedsothattheARTSHUBcanincludeevenmoreorganizationsthanitcurrentlyserves.RISE:TheCampaignforArtistsRepertoryTheatreisthecapitalfundingdrivethatwillmakepossiblethereinventionofART’sbuildingat1515SWMorrison.OriginallyanElksLodgehealthclub,theArtistsRepbuildinghasreachedtheendofitsusefullife.Amajorgiftin2018paidofftheoutstandingmortgageontheentiredowntownblockcatalyzingthe2019saleofthenorthhalfofthebuilding.ARTreceived$9millioninthesale,whichisnowtheleadinvestmentforthereimaginingoftheremainingbuilding.Theroofandtwomassivewoodbeamswillrisetocreateamodernmultiuseperformingartscenterwithtwotheatres,fourrehearsalhalls,andcollaborativespacesthatwillgivespacetothemanynewstorieswaitingtobeshared.
