2020 HAS ARRIVED AND THE YEAR AHEAD PROMISES TO BE AN EXCITING ONE FOR GEMLIFE WITH THE LAUNCH OF SEVERAL NEW OVER-50S LIFESTYLE RESORTS.
As the New Year kicks off, I am pleased to announce the launch of an exclusive, boutique lifestyle resort in coastal Tweed Heads - GemLife Tweed Waters. With direct access to the Tweed River and the ocean beyond, this prime property is sure to attract strong interest (see page 3).
Iâm also excited to announce GemLifeâs first over-50s lifestyle resort on the Gold Coast. Located on an elevated site with spectacular views, GemLife Gold Coast will become one of GemLifeâs flagship developments, and one which I look forward to sharing more details as plans progress (see below).
Over the next few months, you may see GemLifeâs new brand campaign on television, online and in print. The campaign sets out to invite the over-50s to experience âA whole new lifeâ, showcasing a wide range of lifestyle options and the choices and freedom on offer at our resorts.
In keeping with the âwhole new lifeâ theme, this month weâve launched a resort-wide residentsâ photography contest. Current and future residents are invited to submit photos for a chance to be featured in the GemLife 2021 âA whole new lifeâ calendar (see page 8).
Iâd like to wish all our residents - current, future and prospective - a very happy New Year and all the best for 2020.
Yours sincerely,
Adrian Puljich Director & CEO, GemLife

Set in a premium position with direct waterway access, GemLife Tweed Waters is expected to be one of GemLifeâs fastest-selling resorts. GemLife Director & CEO Adrian Puljich said the resort will feature just under 100 homes, creating a very special and unique enclave for future residents.
âItâs a fantastic, blue-chip position and we expect this project to be one of our fastest moving,â Adrian said.
âThe resort design will take advantage of the unique natural features of its coastal location on the water to capitalise on the activities the area is famous for, such as fishing, boating and water sports,â he said.
âThe Tweed is an in-demand area well-known for its relaxed lifestyle and mild, subtropical climate - weâre very excited about seeing this sensational site come together.â
GemLife Tweed Waters is located at Tweed Heads, just south of the Gold Coast on New South Walesâ north coast. The Tweed area is renowned for uncrowded beaches, world-class surf, great fishing, the Tweed River as well as a UNESCO World Heritage rainforest.
Home construction is forecast to begin in late 2020.
With the pending official launch of GemLife Tweed Waters, GemLife will have seven over-50s resorts across Australia, including Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales.

THE GEM JANUARY 2020
Set upon a unique, elevated site with sweeping views all the way to Surfers Paradise and bordered by beautiful natural bushland, GemLife Gold Coast promises to offer exceptional over-50s living for its future residents. GemLife Director and CEO Adrian Puljich said subject to development approvals, the future resort would be GemLifeâs largest, accommodating about 450 homes upon completion.
âGemLife Gold Coast will be a signature resort, offering luxurious, low-maintenance homes together with extensive premium recreational facilities for its over-50s homeowners,â he said.
âItâs rare to secure a property of this size in the region and weâre looking forward to moving ahead with GemLifeâs first Gold Coast-based development.â
Pimpama, located in the housing growth corridor between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, is Australiaâs fastest growing suburb. The site is close to the recently opened billion-dollar Westfield Coomera Town Centre, the new BimâBimba Park, the multimillion-dollar sports precinct, Pimpama SportsHub, as well as the M1 and Coomera train station.

A whole
new lifeA television commercial campaign rolls out across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria later this month, following the recent launch of digital and print campaigns. With the tagline âA whole new lifeâ, the campaign focuses on freedom, choice and wellbeing, rebranding over-50s living for Australiaâs freedom-loving boomer generation. It shows a range of vibrant lifestyles through a series of vignettes that subtly captures the intimate and personal as well as the adventurous and social.
GemLife Director of Sales & Marketing Andrew Coulter said the campaign was created in response to the diverse and changing lifestyle demands of over-50s and in recognition of lingering, out-of-date stereotypes about over-50s communities.
He said that when GemLife launched its first over-50s resort on Bribie Island in 2016, it set out to transform the âretirementâ living space with beautifully designed, low-maintenance homes together with high-end recreational facilities within dynamic, active communities.
âWhen home-buyers tour our properties, theyâre blown away by whatâs on offer,â he said.
âThe biggest challenge, however, is to overcome the tired, stereotypical views many hold about âretirementâ living and to communicate the quantum shift thatâs taken place by showing the dynamic, holistic and diverse lifestyles typical at a GemLife resort.â
With increased life expectancy and improved health and wellbeing, Australiaâs affluent baby boomersâ lifestyle choices are vastly different from the generation before them. With the first cohort of Generation X joining them, the push for more dynamic and innovative living options will intensify.
âPeople forget that the baby boomer generation was forged during a period of huge social change, such as protesting against the Vietnam War, fighting for womenâs rights, experimenting with drugs and enjoying the music revolution of the 60s and 70s,â he said.
âTheyâre more active, fitter, healthier and more open to new experiences and adventures. Some are working full-time or part-time. They do not consider themselves old and donât want to âretireâ in the traditional sense of the word.â
GEMLIFE HAS LAUNCHED A BRAND CAMPAIGN AIMED AT SHIFTING PERCEPTIONS ABOUT OVER-50S LIVING, GIVING A SNAPSHOT OF THE VIBRANT, HOLISTIC LIFESTYLE POSSIBILITIES ON OFFER WITHIN ITS RESORTS.

A testament to the groupâs boosted health status, Private Healthcare Australia, the health insurance industryâs representative body, assessed the nationâs 2.7 million 55 to 75-year-olds âbest riskâ for private health fund insurers.
Facilities at GemLifeâs resorts cater to the over-50s desire for engagement, wellness and enjoyment by offering extensive sporting and leisure choices within luxurious country clubs and recreational precincts. Facilities typically include indoor and/or outdoor swimming pools, spas, saunas, tennis courts, gold-class style cinemas, cafes, bars and more.
âThose over-50s who are semi-retired or retired become more active, fitter and healthier than they were in their 30s and 40s,â Andrew said.
âTheyâre enjoying their time, spending more of it with family and friends, travelling or taking up new interests without the pressure of work,â he said.
âIncreasingly, retirement isnât about slowing down, itâs about changing tack or gearing up. Itâs a time of possibility, a time to live life to the fullest, time for a whole new lifeâ.
