For a 7 3/4 inch (closed) bracelet, you will need: Approx. 80 Super Duos, Color A

Approx. 36 Super Duos, Color B

5- 6mm round beads

5- 4mm round, fire polished or bicone beads

26- 3mm round or bicone beads

A small amount of size 15 Japanese seed beads

1-2 grams size 11 seed beads. I recommend round beads vs. Delicas or cylindrical shaped beads. I used Preciosa Czech seed beads. They are usually sized smaller than Japanese round seed beads.

1-size 2/0 (approx. 7.5mm diameter) snap set for the clasp Size 10 or 12 beading needle. 6lb to 8lb test beading thread. Fireline in Smoke or Crystal or Spider Wire EZ Braid

are highly recommended. A bead mat, bead tray, scissors, a bead reamer and a thread burner are helpful tools.

I recommend using Super Duo beads vs. Twin beads for this project because they are very uniform in shape and size. It's best to maintain proper thread tension with this or any bead project. Aim for a medium tension with no loose gaps. This project requires a semi-rm tension but not so rm as to buckle the piece.

For length adjustments:Each bow tie is approx. 1 inch in length and contains 16 Color A Super Duos, 1- 6mm and seed beads. Each medallion is approx. 1/2 inch in diameter and contains 6 Color B Super Duos, 4 to 5- 3mms and 1- 4mm, as well as seed beads.

This intermediate tutorial is intended for those who have a basic knowledge of beading and thread tension. You should also be comfortable following diagrams and charts, starting and stopping thread and piecing together motifs. This bracelet makes a beautiful gift! The motifs can be used to create earrings and alternate designs.

Step 4: Exiting the top of the C, add 1F and sew through the beads from Step 2. At the bottom, add 1F and sew through the center of the C to exit the top, as shown (left).

Step 5: Exiting the top of the C, sew through the adjacent 2Fs from the prior steps, working counter-clockwise, as shown (right).

{Add 2Fs and sew into the top hole of the adjacent A (shown in a cream color). [Add 2As and sew into the top hole of the adjacent A] twice. Add 2Fs and sew through the adjacent 4Fs.} Repeat the bracketed instructions for the right side.

To step up, sew through the first 2Fs added this round. Add 3Fs and sew into the top hole of the first A added, as shown (right).

Step 6: Exiting the A from Step 5: {Add 2Fs and sew into the top hole of the adjacent A. Add 1A and sew into the top hole of the adjacent A. Add 2Fs and sew into the top hole of the adjacent A. Add 3Fs and sew through the adjacent 8Fs. } Add 3Fs and sew into the top hole of the adjacent A.

Repeat the for the opposite side. To step up, sew {..}through the last 3Fs and exit at a corner, as shown (left).

Step 7: Exiting the F from Step 5: {Add 1F, 1G, 1F and sew into the adjacent F from Step 5 to create a corner for the bow}. Sew through the adjacent Fs and As until you reach the next corner. Repeat the for each corner, sewing through {...} the beads in between the corners, as shown (right).

Weave your tail and working thread ends, tying half-hitch knots along the way. Snip or burn the threads.

Now for the medallion components!

Step 1: On an approximately 12 inch piece of thread, pick up 1F, 1B 6 times for a total of 6Fs and 6Bs, as shown (left). Tie the thread ends in a secure overhand or square knot. Weave in the tail thread and snip or burn the end.

With the working thread, sew through the circle again to reinforce. Exit the bottom hole of a B, as shown (left).

Step 2: Exiting the B from Step 1:

Add 1G, 1D, 1G and sew across the circle into the bottom hole of the opposite B. Add 1G, 1D, 1G and sew back through the original B, as shown (right).

Reinforce this thread path. To step up, sew into the top hole of the starting B (or any B), as shown (right).

Step 3: Exiting the top hole of the B from Step 2: * [Add 1G, 1E, 1G and sew into the top hole of the adjacent B.]twice. Add 1F and sew into the top hole of the protruding A from a bow tie component, as shown in the picture below. Add 1F and sew into the adjacent B.*

Repeat this process between the asterisks (*) once more. Reinforce this round at least once- I recommend twice. On the last round, tie half-hitch knots along the way. Snip or burn the tail thread.

Repeat Steps 1-3 for the medallion units until all 5 bow ties are connected. It doesn’t particularly matter (for me) if the 4mm is sideways or straight up and down.

Step 1: For each end of the bracelet we will use a snap clasp. Complete Step 1 of the medallion process.

Place the male half of a snap onto the circle and stitch into each hole at least twice, sewing through seed beads or Super Duos as needed to reach all 4 holes. Once secured, step up by sewing into the top hole of any B, as shown (left).

Step 2: [Add 1G, 1E, 1G and sew into the top hole of the adjacent B.] around, leaving 1 space to attach to the bracelet. Add 1F and sew into the top hole of the protruding A from a bow tie component, as shown in the picture (right) Add 1F and sew into the adjacent B. Make sure this half of the clasp sits snap-side up.

Reinforce this round at least once- I recommend twice. On the last round, tie half-hitch knots along the way. Snip or burn the tail thread.

For the other half of the snap: Complete Steps 1 and 2 of the medallion component. The snap will go on the underside of the medallion (the 4mm embellishment will be on top).

We will repeat Step 2 (above)for the other end of the clasp using the female half of the snap. For this side, make sure the snap side faces down so it can snap onto the top of the male half.

To the far left is your completed bow tie bracelet. Congratulations!

To the right is a design option using just the medallions with a connecting Super duo.

Below is a design option for coordinating earrings.
