Biotic FactorsMain Organisms: Coral reefs, algae, and fishes.
World’s third largest barrier reef for habitat for fishes and other marine life.
Above is a picture of the fishes that live there.
• Different organisms give off energy and get energy from each other
Below is a graph of the energy Florida Keys get each year.
• Corals are a major organism in this ecosystem. It provides food for animals and a habitat for others.
• The coral reef live in 70˚F – 85˚ F water that must be salty.
Process of reproducing coral:
The coral polyp floats briefly before it finds a solid place to attach itself to. Then, it builds in a colony and becomes taller years after years.
Above is how the coral polyps look like.
Corals have four different habitats for coral reefs.
• Hardbottom • Patch Reef Shallow• Offshore Reef • Deep Offshore Reef
Different types of Coral reefs
• Animals eat algae for food; especially coral. Algae even lives inside the corals. They benefit from each other.
• Zooxanthellae use photosynthesis to make food and brightens the coal.
Here’s how the zooxanthellae look like:
• Groups of fish search around the reefs for food; algea.
• Most fishes have diffrentcolors.
Ex: Three spotted damselfish

What’s the Issues?• People are stepping on the coral reefs even if
there are signs. Corals can die easily.• The nutrients of the keys is very poor in soil• The climate change leads into a problems with
money
• The education is bad. When it is too hot, kids can go home.
• Less coral reefs are being produced • 27% of the world’s coral reefs is affected.• Humans needs to stop stepping on the coral.
