REQUEST FOR MATERIAL

Specimens of mayflies (Ephemeroptera) are required by Mr J . McLean, of the Zoology Department. These i n s e c t s form an important part of fresh water stream fauna. As larvae they are found under rocks i n streams and are e a s i l y c o l l e c t e d by washing stones i n t o hand nets. Adults of t h i s order are able to f l y , but are e a s i l y caught with a b u t t e r f l y net. For those who know the species, I am e s p e c i a l l y i n t e r e s t e d i n Oniscigastert A species l i s t w i l l be returned to anybody sending m a t e r i a l . D e t a i l s of habi t a t and date of c o l l e c t i n g should be provided.
