Pictures We are partnering with PAUL SAVAGE PHOTOGRAPHY. We have an amazing relationship with Paul and that is why he gives us our customers such an amazing rate! His pictures are spectacular and we are ecstatic to have him each year! NOTE: We do not print pictures. Instead, we give you a disk with all your pictures on it. That way you can print out as many and whatever sizes you would like. PAUL SAVAGE PHOTGRAPHY charges you for the time spent capturing and editing pictures. The length of the session (the more dances you are in) determines the price for the picture disk. Prices are as follows: 1-‐2 Dances: $35 3-‐4 Dances: $40 5-‐6 Dances: $45 7 or More Dances: $50 We will do sibling pictures, but it will count as a extra dance. Please count up the number of dances you have as a family to find out the rate you will pay for the disk. For example: if you have two siblings that are taking 4 classes each you will not be paying $40 for each students 4 dances, but instead will be paying $50 for the disk since it is more then 7 dances. The most any family will pay is $50 this includes any additional sibling pictures you take. Order forms need to be filled out and brought to picture day. We will only be accepting cash and check, so make sure to have payment ready in those forms only. This will save us time and keep us on schedule. Payment is due on the day of your child’s scheduled time slot. Picture Day Order Forms are on the last pages of this packet. IMPORTANT NOTE: No parents will be allowed in the room during the photo shoot. Individual shots of students will only be taken of students who purchase a CD. Cash or Check ONLY. ALL Picture days will be held at A STEP ABOVE Dance Studio. Students must arrive in full costume, make up, and hair. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early. Costumes Your student will receive their costume for all dances they perform in during the month of May. Each costume will be sealed in a plastic bag with all accessories included. We will have markers at the front desk for you to print your student’s name on the tag inside each costume. If you want to hang your costume instead please still attach the bag to the hanger. IMPORTANT NOTE ON COSTUMES: Do not consolidate your costumes to one bag or Remove/Swap out the bag we have given you. This will allow the back stage moms when they are preparing your students for the next number to keep everything organized. A helpful video can be found on you tube : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrRF5fb7nzg Make Up Students 6 & under -‐ They will not need to wear as dark of make up, but it is important that they have color in their lips (not just lip gloss). We suggest long lasting lip color so it does not need to be re applied. They will not need fake eyelashes or foundation, but we suggest a little eye shadow and mascara. Please note that the make up is not because we want them to look a certain way or for superficial reasons. The make up is to help you see their expression and face on the stage and in the video. Students age 7 -‐11-‐ Since they are a little older they might not mind having a little more makeup and may be able to sit long enough to get It done. No need for fake eyelashes and they may not need foundations, but go with colors dark enough to see and add eyeliner to bring out their eyes. You want to see their features from far away. Also you want it to show up on DVD. Students 12 & up -‐ Make up for the recital should be darker than normal every day makeup. We call it “Stage Makeup.” Please put on lots of everything: Foundation, Eye shadow, Mascara, Blush and Long Lasting Lipstick. Please choose darker colors then you would normally pick. Lips should be a dark pink/maroon or dark red. Also, do a smoky eye with black eye shadow, wear black eyeliner, and fake eyelashes. If you need help you can find great makeup tutorial on Youtube.

Backstage Moms Parents play a vital role at the recital. Parents help prepare dancers for each performance by escorting them to stage from the dressing rooms and providing overall supervision of the class. We need at least 2 moms per class. If you are interested in helping with students backstage please sign up at the front desk starting in May Backstage Mom’s Responsibilities:
1. Supervise all children within the class assigned to them & keep assigned class together at all times.
2. Keep all children entertained with coloring books/activity books ASA will provide in each room.
3. Make sure each child is dressed in the right costume for the right dance (there will be costume sheets posted to help alleviate confusion).
4. Guide the class over to the stage entrance from your room on time (please listen to the updates on show progress from the Room Supervisor).
5. All backstage moms need to arrive to their assigned room 45 minutes prior to the show start time to allow parents to drop off their students.
Recital DVD $31 per DVD This year we are partnering with a NEW DVD production company: SNAPS Production! They have been in the industry for years and currently provide their services to many other dance studios throughout southern California. PLEASE REMEMBER: There will be no personal video recording or photography allowed during the actual performances. Anyone who disregards this will be politely asked to leave the CCAC without a refund. All performances will be professionally video-‐taped by SNAPS Production and can be purchased for $31 per DVD. DVD’s will be available for purchase prior to the show and during intermission.

CCAC is not responsible for any items left or stolen. -‐For young performers, parents may want to pack crayons or games for entertainment. -‐There is NO food or gum allowed in the theater or backstage (other than bottled water). After performing, students will be taken directly back to their dressing rooms where they will wait for Curtain Call. Curtain Call is the final presentation of the show and all dancers are involved. Performers will NOT be allowed to enter the theater to watch the remainder of the show once they have performed. When your daughter is checked in, she will remain backstage with her class and her assigned backstage moms.

Cast List This year, there are 5 shows across 3 days: Friday at 6:30pm Saturday at 1:30pm and 6:30pm Sunday at 1:30pm and 6:30pm Each show is expected to run about 2 ½ hours. All Dancers will need to arrive 45 minutes before curtain call to stretch and practice for the final bow. Below we have made a list of each class and which shows they are performing in. Please look carefully to make sure you know when your child needs to come. If your child is in more than one class, please check each class for when they are performing and what dance. Special Note: The first week of June the show order will be posted in the dance studio lobby. Please check your spelling of your dancer’s name and note which costume your child will need to come dressed in. This is also a good chance for older dancers in multiple dances to check and make sure there are no mistakes on back to back dances. A Step Above Dance Studio 2014/2015 Planning Sheet
Dear Parents & Students of ASA,
It’s that time of year again! We are already planning ahead for Fall 2014. So we are asking all students (& their parents) to complete a 2014 Planning Sheet. FYI: Fall for A Step Above starts in July. This will allow us to do a few things:
1.) We’ll be able to offer our current students priority registration. 2.) It will help us to make an accurate Fall 2014 schedule reflecting the needs of our current students. 3.) It will steer us in the right direction when it comes to offering a broader range of class times, brand new class styles, and appropriate levels. I cannot stress enough how important it will be to continue attending class during the month of July. There are many reasons your student should continue to take classes during the month of July. Here are a few of them: -‐Your student will quickly loose their flexibility, strength, and balance without the consistency of use (and your student might have to continue in the level they were taking before the recital). -‐We spend a considerable amount of time on technique during July and August. Technique is very important, as this is the foundation for any dancer. -‐And don’t forget, July is the time we move students into more advanced classes based on their level. I would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the attached Fall Registration Form. It’s has been a joy to teach along side the talented group of instructors we have at A Step Above. It is truly a blessing to share the passion I have dance with your students every single day. Again, I thank you for choosing A Step Above year after year. Sincerely, Chelsey Geddis Owner of A Step Above Dance Studio, LLC.

About Levels & Promotions: ASA will be creating new levels and splitting up current classes based on level and ability, knowledge of dance terminology, drive, behavior in class, and performance ability. Each student’s level will be assessed and assigned by ASA instructors. If a student is in a class and the level of difficulty has proven to be too much for the student (i.e. unable to grasp the basics, perform dance technique incorrectly, take much longer to improve, or even injure themselves), we will move them to the appropriate level. Likewise, if a student is in a class where the level of difficulty is too easy (they have become bored making it harder to improve due to the lack of challenge), we will move them to the appropriate level. If a student is between levels, the student has the option to take both the lower and higher level class, or just the lower level. Regardless of where you student of the level your student may assigned this fall, our biggest goal to see your student improve.
Class Selection: Students 6 yrs & Under Please circle the type of dance your student would like to take: Intro to dance (ages 2 ½-‐3) Hip Hop/Jazz (ages 5-‐6) Pre-‐Ballet/Tap (ages 3-‐4) Hip Hop (ages 5-‐6) Ballet/Tap Combo (ages 5-‐6) Students 7 yrs & Up Please Circle the type of dance and write how many classes of each your student would like to take: Ballet___ Tap___ Jazz___ Lyrical___ Hip Hop___ Acrobatics & Dance Tricks___ Break dancing___ Krump___
Class Placement: Please circle any day your student is available for class. Please note: A Step Above will use this info as a guide to revising it’s 2014/2015 Dance Schedule. Classes need a minimum of 6 students to start. Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Will you be taking classes with us this July? YES | NO Please Note: Our Fall 2014 session starts Monday, July 7th, 2014.

After the Recital… We will be closed starting Monday, June 23rd through Sunday, July 6th. During the week of July 7th – July 12th, ASA teachers will complete student evaluations for August class placement and level changes. We will continue with classes on July 7th. Don’t take the summer off!!!! The biggest reason is how quickly a dancer’s flexibility, strength, and balance will deteriorate when they take time off from classes. Don’t forget: we spend a considerable amount of time on technique during the summer that your student won’t want to miss. Technique is very important as this is the foundation for any dancer. Also, another important reason to continue classes is that summer is the time we move students into more advanced classes based on their level. Also, if you don’t take class during July, you’ll forfeit your spot in class. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. Miss Chelsey & the ASA Staff
