I have past the half way point in my life and I count every day as a blessing. And even though I have had many happy moments in my life, I
have also had disappointments. I have stood in front of the open end of a rifle. I have had my house catch on fire. I have been robed, had my
car stolen and even had my car blown up. I have been detained by officials in the airport. I have failed tests and struggled to do well on other
tests. My disappointments have been in life or better yet my disappointments have been in my expectations of what life should be. I have
experienced disappointments in leaders and the future of our country. I have experienced disappointments in my future, my career, my job, and
my work environment. I have experienced disappointments in my friends, my family, and my spouse. I can honestly tell you I have been
disappointed in God.
As I think about what I just wrote I have to clarify that all of my disappointments have been in what I, yes I, have expected things to be like or
in what I have wanted God to do. But these expectations have been what I, have wanted or expected others to do, rather than just trusting in our
wonderful Father above. Trusting God has been so easy at certain points in my life and then so hard at other points in my life. The lessons I
have learned and continue to learn is that God is in control and we need to trust Him. Louisa M. R. Stead wrote, ‘tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
just to take Him at His work; just to rest upon His promise, just to know, “Thus saith the Lord.” O how sweet to trust in Jesus, just to trust His
cleansing blood; just in simple faith to plunge me neath the healing, cleansing flood. Yes, ‘tis sweet to trust in Jesus, just from sin and self to
cease; just from Jesus simply taking life and rest, and joy and peace. I’m so glad I learned to trust Him, precious Jesus, Savior, friend; and I
know that He is with me, will be with me to the end.

We handle Contributions according to the IRS.
Charitable Gift Timing
When donors make gifts near the end of the year, the question often arises: “Is my gift
deductible this year?” A donor’s charitable deduction, assuming deductions are itemized,
depends on various factors:
Checks A donation by check is considered made on the date the check is delivered or mailed, as
evidenced by the postmark of the USPS, if the check subsequently clears the donors bank in
due course. For example, a check that is mailed with a December 31, 2012 postmark by the
USPS, will be deductible by the donor in the year the check is written (2012), even though the check
clears the bank in January of the new year.
Example 1: Donor mails a check with the postmark of December 31, 2012.
The charity does not receive the check until January 4, 2013. The charity
deposits the check in its bank on January 4, and it clears the donor’s bank
on January 6. The gift is deductible by the donor for their 2012 taxes.
Example 2: Donors delivers a check to the charity by 12 noon on December 31, 2012. The
donor asks that the check be held for three months . Complying with the
donor’s request, the charity deposits the check on March 31, 2013. This gift
is deductible by the donor in the year 2013.
Example 3: Donor delivers a check to the charity on January 5, 2013 or is mailed
with this postmark date, however the check is dated December 31, 2011. The gift is
NOT deductible by the donor for 2012. Regardless of the date on the check it must be
received in 2012 for it to be deductible or postmarked by the USPS with a 2012 date.
Example 4: Donor’s check is dated December 31, 2012 and is placed in the offering plate on
Sunday, January 6, 2012. Offering will be counted as a 2013 donation.
Example 5: Donations hand delivered to the church after 12 noon on Monday, December 31, 2012 will
count as a 2013 contribution. Cash donations received on January 6, 2013 in a 2012
contribution envelope or left at the office after 12 noon on December 31, 2012 will be counted
as a 2013 contribution.
Quick reference: If you want to count your contribution/donation on your 2012 taxes, make sure it is postmarked by/
before December 31, 2012 or hand delivered to the church office before 12 noon on Monday, December 31,
2012.
Special Note: Contribution statements must be post marked by the church by January 31, 2013.
They will be distributed in the church, those not picked up will be emailed out, those without email
will be mailed last to save on postage.
If you have any questions please contact the church office for additional assistance.
Your 2013 Contribution Envelopes will be available in the Welcome Center
beginning Sunday, December 2.

Meals on Wheels Preparing for Winter Weather For the nearly 600 homebound residents of Anderson County who count on a hot mid-day meal from Meals on Wheels each
day, extreme winter weather can be very scary. “Not only are they concerned with staying warm, they are also depending on us to
provide their meals,” said Laurie Ashley, executive director of the Anderson agency. “And when we can’t put our delivery volunteers
on the road due to icy conditions, we still want to provide a meal for our recipients.”
To ensure Meals on Wheels recipients have a nutritious meal to eat even when weather conditions prevent volunteers from
driving, the organization provides Shelf Stable Meals to each recipient. These meals contain ready-to-eat items and are delivered to
recipients before bad weather arrives.
Meals contain ready-to-eat soup (no water needed), a granola/nutrition bar, a pack of raisins, a can of fruit and a single serving
can or box of juice packaged in a gallon-sized zippered plastic bag. Meals on Wheels is seeking church groups, schools, clubs or
service organizations who would like to collect and package these items for distribution this winter. Donations of packaged meals can
be received at the Meals on Wheels office at 105 S. Fant Street in Anderson.
Meals on Wheels relies solely on donations received from the community for its day-to-day operations and receives no federal
or state funding. For more information about how to package shelf stable meals or other volunteer opportunities, please contact Jeanie
Campbell at 864-225-6800.
North Anderson Baptist Churches “Helping Hands Ministry Team,” is available to help you with household repairs.
If you have a need please contact one of the team chairs so that they
can assess your need, and assign team members.
