Dr. Kaster received a Bachelor of Arts degree at Texas Christian University, and a medical degree at the University of Kansas- School of Medicine in 1989. He completed his internship and residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, serving an extra year as Chief Medical Resident. Dr. Kaster then completed a two-year Gatroenterology Fellowship at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. He is Board Certified in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, American Medical Association, and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Chen obtained his medical degree from Beijing Medical University and practiced orthopedic surgery for three years. In 1991, he moved to the United States and completed his doctorate degree in physiology at Louisiana State University. He continued his basic science research for two more years at University of Virginia in Charlottesville for IBD research. In July 2004, he then joined the Consultants in Gastroenterology in Kansas City. Dr. Chen is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Dr. Khalid earned a medical degree from King Edward Medical College, Lahore. He completed his internship and residency from Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Chicago, followed by a fellowship in Gastroenterology from Loyola University Medical Center in Illinois. He has worked as a staff gastroenterologist at Roseburg VA Hospital in Oregon and served as a clinical Assistant Professor at Oregon Health and Science University. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, a fellow of the American College of Gastoenterology and a member of American Gastroenterology Association.

Dr. Landers is a graduate of William Jewell College in Liberty and received a medical degree from University of Missouri in Columbia. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Missouri Kansas City and went on to complete a two-year Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Kansas-School Of Medicine. Dr. Landers has been in private practice in the area since 1970. He is an Associate Member of the American College of Gastroenterology and a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Enoscopy as well as many other local and national societies.

Mr. Oberdick has extensive experience in patient care as a Nationally Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner as well as excellent clinical and interpersonal skills. He completed his Nursing at Graceland College in Iowa, his Masters degree in Nursing at the University of Missouri – Kansas City, and his certification as a Nurse Practitioner from the American Nurse Credentialing Center. Mr. Oberdick is experienced in general medicine, digestive disorders, clinical research, emergency care and organ transplantation. He sees patients in the office and hospital allowing patients to be seen in a timely manner and have more time with a clinician during office visits.


Dr. Vardakis was born in Kansas City. He enjoys the mid-west for its varying seasons and family values. He graduated from Rockhurst High School and the University of Missouri-Columbia, before pursuing his medical studies. He com-pleted an Internal Medicine/Gastroenterology training program at UMKC School of Medicine in 1996. He remained on the faculty at Truman Medical Center Lakewood for 3 1/2 years before pursuing private practice in Eastern Jackson County. Dr. Vardakis is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Namin attended the University of Illinois, Chicago, University of Health and Science Chicago Medical School and the American University School of Medicine. He received his Master’s Degree in medical sciences and his medical degree in 1995. He then joined a research fellowship program at the University of Illinois division of hematology and oncology. In 1998, he then moved to Kansas City where he completed residency in internal medicine, psychiatry and a fellowship in gastroenterology at the Kansas University Medical Center. He has done extensive research and is published in areas of functional bowel and motility disorders. He joined Dr. Greg Vardakis in August 2006.

Dr. Bonino is a native of the Kansas City area and is a graduate of Rockhurst High School. He completed his under-graduate studies at Saint Louis University before pursuing his medical degree. He received his doctor of medicine from the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he also completed his Internal Medicine residency and subspecialty fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He previously served as Chief Resident for the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Kansas Hospital. He has a broad interest in all areas of gastroenterology including colorectal cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and the evaluation and management of diseases of the liver. He enjoys spending time with his family in his free time.

Dr. Sidorenko received a medical degree from Novosibirsk Medical Institute in Russia. She completed her intern-ship and residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She also completed her subspecialty fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She has an interest in all areas of gas-troenterology including general endoscopy, gastrointestinal motility and women’s health issues. She enjoys spending time with her family.

Husam Barakat, M.D., received his degree in medicine and surgery from Jordan University of Science and Technology in Irbid, Jordan. He continued his studies by completing an internal medicine residency at Seton Hall University and Saint Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey as well as a gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Missouri-Kansas City where he also was an instructor. Marc K. Taormina, M.D. completed his Gastroenterology fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He has been in private practice since 1985. He is board certified in three specialties: Gastroenterology, Geriatric Medicine, and Internal Medicine through the American Board of Medical Specialties. Dr. Taormina is active in the AMA, Missouri State Medical Association and the Metropolitan Medical Society and is President Elect of the medical staff of Lee’s Summit Medical Center. He has attained Fellowship status in the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology and the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Woltjen has been practicing in Eastern Jackson County and surrounding communities since 1981. His focus is the early detection of gastrointestinal cancers by outpatient endoscopic procedures. During his career he has performed over 80,000 of these procedures. Over the years, he has cared for three generations of the same families. Dr. Woltjen practices by himself which means you receive a very personalized approach to your GI needs. Dr. Woltjen is an equity shareholder of Centerpoint Ambulatory Surgery Center. Dr. Ohly graduated with Honors from the University of Chicago, where he was awarded the Putzel Prize for Exceptional Promise as a Future Physician. He received his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. After his internship at Northwestern University, he received ophthalmology training at the Loyola University Medical Center and Hines Veterans Administration Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed a glaucoma fellowship at the University Eye Specialists with eminent glaucoma scholar, Theodore Krupin. Dr. Ohly is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, etc. Dr. Ohly specializes in glaucoma diagnosis and medical, laser, and surgical treatments for glaucoma, as well as small-incision cataract surgery.

Dr. Silverstein received his undergraduate degree from Emory University and his degree in medicine from the University of Oklahoma. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at Tufts - New England Medical Center and his fellowship in cor-nea and external disease from the Kellogg Eye Center, University of Michigan. In addition to private practice, Dr. Silverstein serves as a clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology at the UMKC School of Medicine and the University of Health Sciences, and enjoys serving as a city councilman, mayor pro tem, and police commissioner for Lake Winnebago, Mo.

Raymond Rizzi, D.P.M., attended the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco. He did his residency at Kaiser Permanente and Legacy Hospital in Portland, OR. As a visiting scholar, Dr. Rizzi continued to advance training in ankle and foot reconstruction in Washington at Southwest Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, and University of Washington.

Dr. Satterlee received his medical degree and general orthopedic training from the University of Missouri – Columbia. Subsequently, he was the senior Anne C. Kane Fellow in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at the New York Orthopedic Hospital – Columbia Presbyterian Hospital directed by the nationally recognized Dr. Charles S. Neer II. Dr. Satterlee sees patients with general orthopedic problems, his expertise and focus is in disorders of the shoulder and elbow.

Alexandria J. Strong obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. She then went on to Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI, where she finished an internship in general surgery. Dr. Strong’s special interests lie in treatment of the shoulder and knee with an emphasis in sports medicine.
