Guest InstructionsBefore The Party

With your invitation you should receive these instructions and details of the character you are going toplay together with your costume ideas and a pre-game clue. (This clue helps to set the scene for theevening’s events).

Please try to follow the costume suggestions, but feel free to improvise if you prefer.

On The Night

On arrival at the party you may be given a nametag or label (please be careful with delicate fabrics). Thehost will then make an announcement about what has happened and the mystery will begin.

You will be given your clues and the events will unfold. On your first slip is some secret information,which you should not reveal unless directly challenged. Your slip will also tell you (in very small script)whether you are the murderer or not. If you are the murderer you may lie as much as you like. If you arenot the murderer you must tell the truth.

As the evening progresses you will be able to ask and answer questions, read clues and form your opinionas to the identity of the murderer.

At the end of all the rounds the host will ask each player to make an accusation, giving reason, motive andmethod, of who they think is the murderer.

After everybody has guessed the host then passes the solution round to each person in the order in whichtheir name appears on the solution. Each player then reads out his or her own section until the murderer isrevealed.

Round 1 - The crime sceneRound InstructionsTo start the game, the Host reads out The Announcement #1 explaining what happened to Roland Stone.The Host then reads out The Forensic Evidence #2 and then gives out the slips for each round. The gueststhen follow the instructions on their slips, which contain information that they have to keep to themselvesuntil challenged, or information which they must reveal during the round. The authorities haveencouraged each of you to talk among yourselves and try to discover hidden motives among members ofthe group.

Good evening everyone and welcome to Effingham Hall, the new home of rock legend, Roland Stone.Tonight’s party was to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the formation of the supergroup ‘The FallingRocks’ which was founded by Roland Stone and Tristan Shout. I am afraid however that I have someterrible news about Roland. You all saw Roland jumping around in his hot tub when the lights wereturned on and then lying very still. Well I am afraid that he was not fooling around. He had beenelectrocuted and he is dead.Roland bought this place six months ago and his hot tub was the centrepieceof the extensive alterations, which he had done to this beautiful 15th Century mansion.The police havebeen called and will be undertaking their investigation.

The Forensic Results #2

Following the examination of the crime scene by our forensic team, we have come to the conclusion thatRoland was electrocuted in his hot tub as the lights were switched on. I am afraid that it was murder. Itappears that a person or persons unknown unscrewed the watertight covers and bulbs from two of theunderwater lights in the hot tub. As the lights were switched on, the unfortunate Mr Stone, who waswaiting in the dark in the water was instantly electrocuted. Our inquiries are continuing and nobody willbe allowed to leave here tonight until our investigation is complete
