A report of the activities conducted by Eco-clubs during first week of
Swachhta Pakhwada for the fortnight 1-15th August 2016
Government of India decided that on the occasion of International Youth Day i.e 12th
August for the fortnight 1-15th August 2016, the suggested theme is “All NSS, NCC and
Eco-clubs”. The specific suggested activities for the fortnight are:
Youth volunteers sensitize citizens and slum dwellers about safe sanitary
practices and DSWM.
Youth groups take mass pledges on mygov.in and undertake cleaning drives in
various locations in the cities and upload pictures on swachhbharat.mygov.in
All the state governments were accordingly informed and advised to associate
Eco-clubs in the above activities. The nodal agencies of Eco-clubs under the
Ministry’s NGC programme advised all the Eco-clubs in their state to plan for
these activities during the fortnight. The Eco-clubs in the various states are
accordingly carrying out the related activities during the fortnight and are
sending the daily reports. So far during the pakhwada the different activities
undertaken by various Ecoclubs are as follows:
Eco Club volunteers educated slum dwellers (female) about the necessity of self-
hygiene, community hygiene, cleanliness and preventive measures against about
the dengue & malaria
Safai Abhiyan at Nearby commercial area and markets, roads etc
Safai Abhiyan in the school premises and class rooms.
Seminar to sensitise the Students regarding environmental issues.
Sensitize people of the locality about cleanliness of public places.
Meetings/lectures on related themes
Workshops on related themes.
Cleaning of public wells, ponds and rivers of the locality.
Awareness classes on Water conservation and recharging measures
Tree plantation/greening neighbourhood
Educating the Waste Management practices like- separate bins for degradable
and biodegradable wastes.
Carry out campaign against plastic and leaf burning and their proper disposal
Conduct of quizzes, elocution, painting, essay competitions etc
Volunteers are taking pledges like:
I will throw the wrappers into the dustbin only.
I will not throw any kind of waste into the rivers.
I will carry my cloth or paper bag while shopping.
I will plant a tree atleast once a year to keep my surroundings green and
clean.
I pledge for clean India, Green India
I take this pledge that I will remain committed towards cleanliness and
devote time for this
I will neither litter not let others litter

Cultural activities on civic sense highlighting the importance of Green & Clean
A Play was conducted by an Eco-club on "Jahan soch vahan shauchalya".
Nukkad nataks played in prayer time to imbibe the sense of cleanliness
among the students so that they can convey this message to their family &
neighbourhood.
