A Report

The user Awareness programme on Access to E-Resources under the UGC Infonet Digital Library Consortium jointly organized by Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University Library and Dept. of Lib. & Inf. Sc. and Inflibnet Center was held on 26th November, 2009 at Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan (Gujarat).

The inaugural function of the E-Resources user Awareness programme was

graced by Dr. K. K. shah (Vice Chancellor, H.N.G. Uni., Patan), Dr. Jagdish Arora (Director, Inflibnet, Ahmedabad), Dr. J.H. Pancholi (PVC, H.N.G. Uni., Patan) and Dr. M. G. Patel ( Co-ordinator & I/C. Uni. Librarian, H.N.G. Uni., Patan).

The Awareness programme Started at 10:00 A.M. with prayer by students of Sangit Shala, Patan. It was followed by a welcome Speech by Dr. M. G. patel. In his Speech he Stressed the need for such awareness programmes on e-resources in future also.

Dr. K. K. Shah, Dr. Jagdish Arora, Dr. J. H. Pancholi and Dr. M. G. Patel inaugurate the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

In his presidential address, Dr. Kiran K. Shah, Vice Chancellor, H.N.G. Uni., Patan appreciated the efforts of the Inflibnet Center, Ahmedabad to make the users of the University aware of the e-journals and the databases of different publishers that are available in a single platform.

About 300 delegates consisting of Teachers, Research Scholars, Students and Staff participated in the programme & the programme was covered by various News Media & local Channels and print Media.

The technical sessions began with a presentation by Dr. Jagdish Arora,

Director, Inflibnet Center, Ahmedabad. In his presentation entitled "INFLIBNET Center : Current Status and Future Endeavors" he provided a general overview of the functions and current activities of the INFLIBNET Center and its future plans. He also highlighted the objectives and the importance of the UGC Infonet Digital Library consortia.
