First, let me say, “Happy Father’s Day” to all of our fathers. You men are so very important to your children, your grandchildren and your wives. When Paul wrote to the Thessalonians he listed some traits important to healthy fathering…”For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.” (I Thess. 2:11,12). Fathers, may we encourage, comfort and urge our children to live lives worthy of God. Second, our prayers are with all who will be attending Colorado Chris- tian Youth Camp this week on the Grand Mesa. May the counselors, teachers, crafters, game & recreation leaders, kitchen staffers, camp nurse and all the other staff members have good health, good attitudes and plenty of sleep (well, some sleep anyway). May we who lead, lead these young people in the way of the Lord. May the campers see Jesus more clearly and let Him guide them in their lives. God bless you all! On Thursday of this week six of our number will be leaving for a week long work of getting a youth camp ready for operation in the southern part of France. John & Holly Cooper, David & Stephanie Cooper and Mike and Pam Hurd will continue the arduous task that several of our members have also been involved with several years ago. Two years ago the above mentioned six were accompanied by Melva Wilbanks, Carolyn Deberry and Cuba Omahundro. Four years ago Gabe Wilkins participated. You can ask any of them about this unique work. Over 400 campers and staff attended this camp in France last Summer. It is having a great impact for good in French speaking Europe. One other prayer concern- our own Dr. Mike Hughes left Friday for a week medical mission to Honduras. May we pray for his safety and success as he helps these very needy people. God be with you Mike. Medical Equipment Coordinator

Ed Riddle is giving up his job as medical equipment coordinator. The job includes maintaining, repairing, cleaning, inventory and numbering medical equipment. It is a vital responsibility and many ill and disabled people have benefitted by the church hav-ing this equipment available for check-out. A very big thank you to Ed for doing this and he will be ready to train anyone inter-ested in taking over this ministry. Check with him for more de-tails.

A VBS Thank You: The Starfish: Once upon a time there was a writer who used to walk along the beach for inspiration. One morning he was walk-ing along the shore and as he looked down the beach he saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself to think of someone who would dance to the dawn of a new day. So he began to walk faster to catch up. As he got closer he saw that it was a young girl and she wasn't dancing but instead she was reaching down to the shore and picking something up and very gently throwing it into the ocean. As the man got closer he called out, "Good Morning! What are you doing?" The young girl paused, looked up and replied, "Throwing starfish in the ocean." "But why?" asked the man. "The sun is coming up and the tide is going out, if I don't throw them back in they will die" she answered. "But there are miles and miles of beach and star-fish all along it. You can't possibly make a difference" said the man. The girl listen politely, then bending down, picked up an-other starfish and threw it carefully into the sea past the break-ing waves and said, "It made a difference for that one." by Loren Eiseley To the buyers, suppliers, crafters, and teachers; the singers, the gamers, the skitters, and preachers; the cooks and the painters, and the great decorators; and all of the others in between ... YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE in the lives of many children last week at VBS. "Well done, thy good and faithful servants" With love and appreciation, Lesa Brassette

Sips from the well (by Doug Clayton) Parable of Daddy

There was a Daddy who had many toys, gadgets, cool hobbies, and buddies to share them with. The Daddy worked hard all week but always found time for his toys after work and on weekends. The Daddy had a little boy. The little boy did not care about his daddy’s toys, gadgets, hobbies and buddies, they al-ways seemed to take daddy away from him. The little boy wanted his daddy to swim with him and watch him play T-ball, but Saturdays were for golf, mowing the lawn and watching sports on TV. The little boy wanted his daddy to read him bedtime stories and snuggle with him at night under the blanket with a flashlight, but the daddy was usually too tired from work and rarely had the patience for such routine. The little boy wanted to sit with his daddy in church. But Sunday was daddy’s only day to play with his own toys and friends. So, most Sundays the little boy went to church without his daddy. As years passed the daddy decided he wasn’t be-ing the daddy that he should. But, instead of spend-ing more time with his little boy wrestling on the floor, playing catch, building forts in the back yard, taking him fishing, reading him Bible stories and pray-ing with him in his Batman PJs, the daddy just began buying the little boy smaller versions of his own grown up toys to keep him busy and happy. The Daddy thought such gifts meant he was being a bet-ter father. The growing boy missed his daddy time but of course he liked all the new toys and soon be-gan to fill his time with them. The need for his daddy’s time, hugs, and attention once so important, now were not. The toys, time and friends that had been so important to the daddy now were not. As the daddy and the boy grew older, daddy de-cided he wanted a deeper relationship with his son. But, the young son had become content to spend his time with his ear buds in, alone in his room with his own gadgets, or hanging with his friends. Eventually this led the daddy to start taking his faith more seri-ously. But, by now the son decided his friends, eve-nings, and Sunday hobbies were more important to him than his dad’s new show of faith. They still lived under the same roof, saw each other most every day but there was no warm rela-tionship, no shared experiences, they were little more than strangers. The Daddy saw this with a heavy heart and regret. But, alas, it was too late, Daddy had reaped the seeds he had sown in the young life and heart of his little boy. As God looked down, tears dripped from His eyes in a gentle rain. Heaven was sad for what could have been, what should have been, what was lost, what was supposed to be but never was. God was heart-broken again and wondered what went wrong with so many of the daddies he had made.

Matthew 17:20 (NIV)

I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.
