SUMMER 2017 Dear friends of SPE Color and Appearance Division, It is hard to believe but September is almost here, school is back in session for many chil- dren. All of the volunteers on the CAD Board are hard at work striving to educate, train, inform and provide professional interaction opportunities to the global world involved in the coloring of plastics. I would like to recognize and thank a few of those hard-working volunteers: First, Brenda Mullins for her leadership of the Color and Appearance Division this past year. During Brenda’s term CAD received the Pinnacle Gold Award and Communications Excellence Awards again. ese accomplishments reflect both Brenda’s leadership and the hard work of the members of your Board of Directors. Another member hard at work is Bruce Mullholland and his team, they are organizing the 2017 RETEC®, which will be Celebrating our 55th Conference. is year the location is Milwaukee, with the theme “What’s Brewing with Color”. Located at the Hilton City Center. e program looks to be very exciting with the Monday aſternoon techni- cal session is devoted to LED Illumination, bringing together color control suppliers, lighting suppliers and instru- ment manufactures, plus experiences from the retail environment. e conference has registered a record number of exhibitors making RETEC® 2017 even a more compelling reason for people to attend. The Color and Appearance Division of SPE has been presenting the ldquoColoring of Plasticsrdquo tuto-rial at the start of the CAD RETECreg conference for many years Many SPE members and non-members have benefited from this program The tutorial is a great starting point for those just beginning a career or an excellent continuing improvement opportunity to those who wish to add to their base knowledge of coloring of plastics The course is full of practical information which is embellished and enlightened by the active participation of all the attendees

The tutorial runs a full day on Sunday prior to CAD RETECreg and does require a separate reg-istration and fee The attendance is limited to 20 persons so register soon Attendees receive a full-color manual to use as a reference when they return home

The Color and Appearance Division regularly holds Board of Director (BOD) meetings at the ANTECreg and the CAD RETECreg In addition a Summer BOD meeting is typically held about 6 weeks prior to the next CAD RETECreg

The Summer meeting is scheduled in various locations A Winter BOD meeting is held in January The Winter meeting is typi-cally held at a site of a future CAD RETECreg

Any SPE CAD members who wish to attend are welcome at these meetings If interested in attending the next Board meeting please contact the Division Chairperson for more information

The Color and Appearance Division of SPE has been presenting the ldquoColoring of Plasticsrdquo tuto-rial at the start of the CAD RETECreg conference for many years Many SPE members and non-members have benefited from this program The tutorial is a great starting point for those just beginning a career or an excellent continuing improvement opportunity to those who wish to add to their base knowledge of coloring of plastics The course is full of practical information which is embellished and enlightened by the active participation of all the attendees

The Color and Appearance Division regularly holds Board of Director (BOD) meetings at the ANTECreg and the CAD RETECreg In addition a Summer BOD meeting is typically held about 6 weeks prior to the next CAD RETECreg

The Summer meeting is scheduled in various locations A Winter BOD meeting is held in January The Winter meeting is typi-cally held at a site of a future CAD RETECreg

Invitation to Attend our Board Meetings

The Color and Appearance Division regularly holds Board of Director (BOD) meetings at the ANTECreg and the CAD RETECreg In addition a Summer BOD meeting is typically held about 6 weeks prior to the next CAD RETECreg

The Summer meeting is scheduled in various locations A Winter BOD meeting is held in January The Winter meeting is typi-cally held at a site of a future CAD RETECreg

Any SPE CAD members who wish to attend are welcome at these meetings If interested in attending the next Board meeting please contact the Division Chairperson for more information
