Conceptualization of Tunnel Proposal in UER-II by DDA

3

UER-II is road project of DDA toconnect NH-1 to NH-2 via NH-10& NH-8 [2x(3Lane+BRT Lane)Total length 79.12km, RoW100m] is under construction.

Proposal of 2 Km long tunnelunder habitation & Settlementarea of Madanpur Dabas wasconceived by DIMTS in their pre-feasibility report (Nov 2014).

MoM : 31st Meeting of UTTIPEC (WG) dt. 3.12.15

1. Kanjhawala Road to NH-10 is part of UER-II and acts as a missing link fromalready constructed portion of UER-II on Northern side of Kanjhawala Road andSouthern side of NH-10. Therefore, this stretch was again discussed in 33rdWorking Group II-A, meeting to provide seamless connectivity of the UER-II

2. DMRC Metro Proposal: DMRC officials have been interacted. It is confirmed thatat present there is a proposal of Metro Line along UER-II, however metroalignment is not coinciding in the proposed tunnel alignment, the same wasconfirmed during meeting held with Sr.DGM DMRC consultancy services on14.06.16 by EE RPD-5 and representative of Geoconsult. MoM has beensubmitted vide letter no F54(13)/RPD-5/A/DDA/2016-17/414 dated 15.06.16 tothe concerned DMRC officials by email.

3. This project of tunnel construction is a part of UER-II (approx. 2km long tunnel, ramps and cut & cover 900m each side, out of 79.12km total length of UER-II).UER is designed as an expressway for through connectivity of motorisedvehicles. Traffic circulation at surface level has been taken into considerationduring design of UER-II by providing service road, interchange/ intersectiondesign and loops/ ramps by DIMTS.

The Tunnel part is an underground path to cater UER-II traffic by avoiding landacquisition, and any disturbance to existing surface structures and habitations. There is no direct entry and/or exit of local traffic in ramp/tunnel.

Underground structures comprise of ramps, cut & cover sections and tunnel.Ramps are sloping road open to sky with side walls. Cut & Cover sections to bestructurally designed as per relevant standards.

Utilization and management of vacant land at Cut & cover sections will be underDDA and/or its authorised authority by provision of landscaping, parking forvehicles, horticulture, commercial development etc. Drawing is attached.

4. UER-II has been designed as a whole by integrating nearby intersection/junction. Tunnel section is a part of UER-II to cater traffic from one end to otherend through underground structure. Surface traffic will flow using local streetsand road above tunnel section as it is and/or administrated by local authority. There are two existing roads falling on either side of approach ramp. Theseroads are affecting during construction and will be taken care of by providingalternate diversion route. Traffic circulation plan for these two roads have beenprepared and presented in subsequent section.

5. IRC : SP : 91 – 2010 – Guidelines for Road Tunnels and the European GuidelineEC54:2004 have been referred. Since there is no codal guidance for safedistance between two tunnels, the same will be fixed as per safe structuraldesign during DPR stage. The constraints of the alignment can be taken intoaccount by an improved construction method and additional measures. Thelining must be anyway designed to take the full loads, regardless of code.

6. As per survey, there are approximate 480 nos of mixed types of structure(kuchcha/pucca), single story (150) /G+1(195) / G+2 (125) and G+3 (10) nos, total land area 11.6 Ha, Population 6000 nos, density 45 houses/Ha; 550persons/Ha.). Site photographs have been attached in the presentation. Tunnelplan is also shown on Google Earth image showing existing network andhabitation along project area.

7. Presentation has been modified by rearranging/inserting slides from DIMTSreport.
