ABOUT THE AUTHOR• Nelle Harper Lee was born on
28th april 1926 in Monroeville
• Her childhood was quite similar to Scout‘s
• Wanted to be a writer since she was seven
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
• Moved to New York, there she began her writing career
• An agent encouraged her to expand one of her stories into a novel
• because of her frequent trips to Alabama, she was inspired to the story of “To kill a mockingbird”
• The book was finally published in 1960
• She became suddenly famous but did not like being the object of attention
THE MOVIE
• 1962 American film adaptation
• Directed by Robert Mulligan
• Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch
• Won three Oscars (eight nominations)
• Several scenes from the book were cut out
