IridiumI 8200 A Novel Ferrimagnetic Irido-Cuprate: IrSr2GdCu2O8. — The title compound is
prepared from SrCO3, CuO, Gd2O3, and IrO2 under high temperature, high-pressure conditions (1393 K, 60 kbar, Belt-type apparatus). The structure of IrSr2GdCu2O8 is de-termined by Rietveld refinement of powder XRD data. The compound crystallizes in the tetragonal space group P4/mmm and is isostructural with the corresponding Ru-1212 phase. A ferrimagnetic IrIV—GdIII spin ordering is observed below 15 K. The iridium oxidation state appears to be +4 and that of Cu is +2.5. — (DOS SANTOS-GARCIA, A. J.; AGUIRRE, M. H.; MORAN, E.; SAEZ PUCHE, R.; ALARIO-FRANCO*, M. A.; J.
