A New Variety of Christmas Fern MAUITRICE BROOKS

POLYSTICHITM ACROSTICHOIDES (Michx.) Scott., var. lonchitoides Brooks var. nov. Haec varietas a forma typica speciei differt frondi- bus similibus P. lionchitis (IL.) Itoth.-This variety differs from the typical form of the species in having fronds strongly resembling P. Lonchitis, although with the fruiting characters of P. acrostichoides. The type was collected by Maurice Brooks in the neighborhood of French Creek. Upshur County, West Virginia, )ecember 26, 1934, and has been deposited in the herbarium of West Virginia University.
