Silverstar M ountain, 1986. A new route was made in Septem ber 1986 on the northeast buttress and finally the east ridge. Dave Beckstead and I found interesting, som etimes very challenging climbing on the slabs and towers of this ridge. The route begins from a small glacier and ends where it joins the Ulrichs route near the sum mit pinnacles. The rock is very solid, being part of the Golden Horn batholith. The route was long enough so that a bivouac was made in the trees on the descent. (II I , 5 .8 .)
