A new national qualification for hackney and private hire drivers
The Academy promotes professionalism and standards within the private hire industry.
At the moment (unlike for bus, coach and HGV drivers) there is no nationally recognised certification process for the private hire and taxi industry. Many drivers receive little or no training at all and there are also shocking examples of poor quality or even past corruption in the training which is being delivered.
The Academy was formed by professional industry experts to overcome these problems
and has developed model course content and an accreditation process to ensure that training is always to a high standard.
We provide this course for delivery by training organisations and on line for individual study – our role is accreditation and monitoring standards or delivery.
The aim is to have the qualification accepted as the national certification for the taxi and private hire trade on par with the CPC for bus, coach and HGV drivers.
