ABOUT CONCRETE COUCHConcrete Couch works with kids and community groups to create public art, to build community, and to create

environments and experiences that humanize our world. For over 15 years we have worked with some of our community’s most underserved populations - military families and veterans, Title One schools, adjudicated teens, senior citizens,

developmentally differently-abled people and those earning community service hours.

CONCRETE COUCH’S VALUE TO THE PIKES PEAK REGIONWe estimate that we have saved our community over $1.2 million in direct costs. These savings have come from

City of Colorado Springs and El Paso County projects - parks, community centers, murals, sculptures, graffiti removal etc; and Regional K-12 school programs; and projects for other non-profit organizations. We have mobilized

at risk teens to repair and restore bridges, walkways, historic stone walls, benches, picnic tables, and have repainted infrastructure and created murals in high graffiti zones.

Indirect ValueFor more than 15 years Concrete Couch has worked with schools, parks, community centers, and individuals to make Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region a more vibrant and activated community. We’ve brought diverse people together, taught skills, connected neighbors, invested in neighborhood infrastructure and beautification in a way that has added to the interest and vitality of the Springs for visitors and residents alike. Visit COPPeR (www.culturaloffice.org) for more information on the indirect value that programs such as ours bring to a community.

We are creating “A place for all to meet and make” by purchasing and developing a 5.6 acre parcel of land located at 1100 South Royer Street in the south east corner of the Colorado Springs Downtown District. We will restore and

enhance the landscape by building gardens, trails and an extensive community-built playground. We will provide an easement to complete the Legacy Loop Trail. On the east edge of the site at Royer Street we will build storage garages

and sheds, our new office, a caretaker’s residence, site bathrooms, and a place for job-training and community connecting programs including art programs, urban gardening, ecological education and restoration.

Community Park & Legacy LoopThe West end of the property will be a Destination Program Zone

in line with the Envision Shooks Run Master Plan to include community designed and built elements.

The Legacy Loop trail is a 10 mile trail, park, and destination loop around downtown Colorado Springs. The trail is 90% complete with one of the remaining planned segments on the Concrete Coyote site.

Buildings Concrete Couch Offices,

Site Bathrooms, Caretaker’s Residence The office building will be based on simple

construction with a greenhouse in front and top of the line insulation from

the Energy Resource Center.

Garages / Sheds / Storage The garages will be built on 4 existing

concrete walls. These will be simple storage spaces with wood stoves and electricity. The

build-out will be a program of Concrete Couch incorporating high school and college students

learning real-world construction skills
