A national network of selected hospitalsAs an AXA PPP healthcare member, you haveaccess to a national network of hospitals,day-patient units, scanning centres and otherprivate healthcare facilities. These have beenselected following a comprehensiveassessment of their quality, value and rangeof services.All of them are listed in our Directoryof Hospitals.
Oral surgery If you need oral surgery, then we’ll providebenefit for those oral surgical procedures thatare set out in your membership handbook,when your dentist refers you directly to a facilityindicated by the symbol in our Directoryof Hospitals. Please contact our team ofPersonal Advisers before you haveany treatment.
Cataract SurgeryIf you need an eye operation involvingcataract surgery, then we’ll provide benefitwhen your general practitioner refers youdirectly to one of the facilities indicated bythe symbol in our Directory of Hospitals.Please contact our team of Personal Advisersbefore you have any treatment.
Our quality assessment andimprovement programmeOur initial assessment covers most aspectsof the hospital’s services. We only selecthospitals and other facilities for inclusion inour network if they meet and continue tomeet our strict quality criteria. In turn, we’recommitted to supporting the hospitalsincluded in our network, encouraging them toinvest in new facilities and services – to ourmutual long-term benefit.
We regularly monitor their performance toassess their quality of care, which is why yourfeedback is particularly important.If you need to use a facility, please completeyour hospital’s ‘patient satisfaction survey’form and return it to them.
Standards for specialised servicesWe also work closely with network hospitalsthat provide certain specialised care servicessuch as cancer, cardiac revascularisation,critical care, paediatrics and psychiatric care.National guidelines for these have beenestablished in conjunction with appropriateprofessional authorities and organisations.
The benefits of our network hospitalsThe hospitals included in our Directory ofHospitals will endeavour to make your stayas pleasant and comfortable as possible.You can usually have your own private roomwith en-suite bathroom, television andtelephone. You’ll be given a choice of dishesfor each course at mealtimes and yourvisitors may, within reason, come and go asthey wish.

We’ll then beable to authorise your claim in advance.There may be rare occasions when wesuspend the use of a network hospital oranother facility listed in our Directory ofHospitals to protect the interest ofour members.

Day-patient treatmentAdvances in medical care mean that manyoperations are now undertaken on aday-patient basis. This is in keeping withgood clinical practice. Please note that youmay be cared for in an open day ward (ratherthan a single room) while you recover froman anaesthetic to enable nursing staff tomonitor your progress more effectively.Most hospitals now offer day-patient treatmentand we have included a number ofpurpose-built day-patient units in theDirectory of Hospitals.

A triangle (Δ) indicates an NHS hospital thatdoes not have dedicated private patientfacilities. (We will recognise an NHS bednominated as a private bed but in such casesthe level of accommodation may be the sameas standard NHS accommodation.)
Scanning centres – these centres provide:
MRI (magnetic resonance imaging)A diamond ( ) indicates that the centre hasan open MRI scanner.
CT (computerised tomography)
PET (positron emission tomography)
These are usually carried out on anout-patient basis. Only the centres listed canbe used for out-patient scanning.
General hospitals – acute medicaland surgical hospitals and day-patientunits which are recommended byAXA PPP healthcare following ourselection process and where you willreceive a full refund for hospital treatment.
