About the Players sing “All Good Gifts” ever since the 2016 season announce-ment happened last September. Offstage, Kent recently took a position with Handrail Design Inc. in Columbia. This show has been one of the best theater experiences he’s ever had, and many thanks to the cast for making it awesome with him. Also, thanks to the creative team for all their hard work that went into this show. Asher Johnson – Asher is excited to be back on stage at SSC. Asher made his directorial debut last season and directed the first show of 2016, The Boys Next Door. He was last seen on stage in Into the Woods as the Baker. Asher studied Theater at Penn State University and plans to return to school this summer to continue his education. He would like to thank his parents for being his biggest inspiration and for his beautiful girlfriend, Jordyn, for all her love and support. Kevin Jones – Kevin began acting at age 5 and performed in numerous primary and secondary school productions. During his undergraduate studies, he portrayed Annas, The High Priest in Millersville University’s Jesus Christ Superstar, Beadle in Sweeney Todd, and John in Anyone Can Whistle. He also played Sir Sagramore in A Connecticut Yankee in King Ar-thur’s Court at Lancaster’s First Stage Theater. More recently he appeared in Susquehanna Stage Company’s productions of 1776 as Delegate George Read of Delaware and Mr. Witherspoon in Arsenic and Old Lace. He is very excited about appearing in Godspell. He enjoys spending his time hiking, mountain biking, playing piano, reading and most im-portantly being with his partner Eric and beloved kitten Meep. Keifer Kemmerly – Keifer is pleased to be joining the Susque-hanna Stage Company for his third production (The Sound of Music, Into the Woods). He is a Columbia native and Lebanon Valley College alumnus currently working at the Penn State Harrisburg Library. He also serves as the contemporary worship leader at the Columbia United Methodist Church. He would like to thank the cast and crew for their hard work, and view-ers like you – thank you!
About the Players Liz Boyer – Liz has been involved in a number of shows with SSC, both onstage and off, including Sound of Music, Guys & Dolls, and Baby. She is very excited to be a part of this pro-duction of Godspell, as it is one of her favorite shows, and one that she has wanted to be in for a long time. She recently re-turned from an internship at Walt Disney World, and has had a great time getting back into theater with this fun show. Ali Fleming – Most recently Ali appeared in The Boys Next Door as Sheila and in last season's production of Into the Woods as Rapunzel. She is a graduate of Donegal High School and a recent graduate of Millersville University with a degree in art education. Ali hopes you enjoy Godspell just as much as she does. John Fleming – John is thrilled to be in Godspell. He has been an actor with SSC since age eleven and this is his ninth show with them. His favorite roles include Fredrick in The Sound of Music, the courier in 1776, and Jack in Into the Woods this past summer. He is a recent graduate of Donegal High School and is attending Penn State Harrisburg for computer science. John has immensely enjoyed working with this cast to bring this unique show to life. He hopes the hard work and dedica-tion from himself, the whole cast, and the crew has done this show the justice it deserves. Beth Gable – This is Beth’s seventh show at SSC and by far her favorite. She has loved Godspell since she was a kid when she would listen to the recording with her mom around Easter-time. Many thanks to Jim for believing in me and for making this show amazing, to Sharon and Caleb for making us all sound fantastic, and to Jacquee for giving me the best cos-tume in the world. And, of course, thanks to all my fellow cast members…working on this show has been such a blast with all of you. This is the perfect cast and I will miss this show so much when we’re done. Kent Gable – Kent’s been in four shows at SSC and was last seen as Fred Gaily in Miracle on 34th Street. He has hoped to
From the Director
"He sends the snow in winter, the warmth to swell the grain, the breezes and the sunshine, and soft refreshing rain. All good gifts
around us are sent from heaven above!"
As we awake from winter's cold clutches to celebrate spring-time and the glorious Easter season, we at Susquehanna Stage Co. welcome you and thank you for choosing to spend some time at our theater! What a gift we have for you with this pro-duction of GODSPELL, based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew and called "the world's most popular musical.”
The stories and parables are ones that I learned in Sunday School, but the music by Stephen Schwartz and the way the stories are told and the dances that emerge make this show an epic and unforgettable experience. As a kid in 1973, hearing and seeing GODSPELL completely hooked me to theater, to story-telling, and to Jesus.
These young performers onstage represent a new generation of youth hungry for the words and messages of St. Matthew. They have, like I did, embraced the show and have made it a part of their lives. I applaud their dedication to their art and the pu-rity of their hearts!
My humble thanks to those behind the scenes who toil to make everything run smoothly; to the Board of SSC for their support and dedication to our community theater; to our audiences and patrons who show up to hear what we have to say. And mostly my thanks to God, who makes all things possible and is so GOOD!
May the words and music you are about to see and hear spread light into your life today and always!
"Man's clouded sun shall brightly rise, and songs be heard, instead of sighs!"
