Happy New Year!!

What a year 2016 was….we initiated 27 new members, more than last year. As our State President,

John C. Harris says, “Blast Elkdom Into The Future.”

We still are struggling financially….need more support from our members, and always need more

people to volunteer their time so we can make 2017 a successful year. So please, get involved in your

lodge, otherwise our charities suffer, and charities are what being an Elk is all about.

We have a lot of fun things happening in the coming months...make sure to check the calendar and join

us in the lodge.

Orientation will be held on Tuesday, January 10th at 6:00 pm in the Business Office; all officers, committee chairpersons, and proposers, please be present. Initiation will be on Wednesday, January 18th at our regular lodge meeting at 7:30 pm. The following candidates’ proposers are encouraged to be present. Membership The lodge has done very well with bringing in new members in 2016, we had 27 new members were initiated during the year. A “Final Dues” notice will be going out shortly in an attempt to get delinquent members paid up for the year.

Lapsation We still have 61 members who have not paid their dues. _____________________________________________ I would like to encourage all our new members to get involved in the lodge, whether it’s serving on a committee, helping in the kitchen, setting up tables, decorating, wrapping silverware, etc. We are looking for “TEAMS” to help in and around the lodge. Many of you indicated, during investigation, that you would help…well here’s your chance. Let our Exalted Ruler or House Committee Chairman know you want to help. In closing, thank you, to all the members, officers, PERs, BODs, for all your support and encouragement this past year, and most especially, to our Elks Ladies for all they do for the lodge. Together, we were able to make our lodge a warm and friendly place for people to come to and enjoy, even though we are going through some rough patches, right now. CHAPLAIN’S CORNER Sickness and Distress:

I was in Mississippi for my brother Roger's funeral, so I have no column this month I just want to thank

all of you for your kind words and cards.

There was a Lodge of Sorrow for Life Member,

Leo Amaral, 87 years old, who passed away on December 17, 2016. He led a very active life and served in the US military. He will be missed by his

family and friends.

ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION

We are doing very well on our ENF donations. I have received pins for new second year donors. I will have them at the meetings. These people are Mike and Patty Bohan, Darrell, Lee and Lorraine Cevasco, Gerald Dougherty, Nancy Hackel, Larry Kraus, Don Nephew, Verna Omahen, and James Regan, Wayne Besaw, Jeremy Reichenberg and Janet Garlin were also honored but they have already received their pins. This is a new effort by ENF to honor repeat donors. Next year, they will receive a 3rd year pin when they donate. You can see the poster of the pins on the bulletin board. Marci

Effective, January 1st, 2017 our scheduled operating hours will change. We will discontinue the Early Bird Dinner and open for Lunch at 11 AM-1 PM, then reopen for cocktails at 4 PM, Tuesday thru Friday. Please refer to this report, the current monthly calendar and event fliers for other times and activities.

SOCIAL QUARTERS WEEKLY SCHEDULE (recurring):

2016 HOOP SHOOT

BABE JAMES CENTER

This year's hoop shoot was a big success. We had 23 contestants from Burns-Oak Hill, Chisholm,

Coronado, Indian River and Reed Pattillo Elementary schools. We would have had 10 more if it hadn't been

for the Edgewater Christmas Parade. All of the winners (except 3) and their families came to the Lodge for

lunch and the trophy presentation. There are so many people to thank for their help it would be a long list.

We had 16 volunteers at the Babe James and 2 at the lodge preparing lunch. The PERs paid for the

trophies, Scott Skowronski paid for the kid's T-shirts and various people donated water and doughnuts.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, everyone! I couldn't have done it without you.
