Flexible, operative business development solutions meeting the customer’s requirements and a well-organized network of partners speed up the business establishment process and reduce the costs for business development. since starting their operations, the majority of investors have increased investment and production capacities. Even during the worst of the economic downturn (2009–2010) the zone companies managed to increase their turnover (+ 10 %) and rate of export (+ 13 %). the Klaipeda FEZ, as an effective and reliable business location, has already been chosen by investors from many different countries (thailand, UK, Ireland, Finland, Denmark, switzerland, Ukraine, Japan, Norway, Belarus, etc.), who have successfully continued the development of their businesses here.

ALBRIGHT LIETUVAKevin Holland, Operations Director, Albright International & acting MD for Albright Lietuva

“We wanted to manufacture in Eastern Europe for logistical reasons and Lithuania was chosen because of their willingness to make that possible. The tax advantages were clearly an incentive and the Klaipeda FEZ was far more organized than other free economic zones.”

EqUIPPED WIth A MODERN ENgINEERINg INFRAstRUCtURE

BLRT GRUPPFjodor Berman, CEO, BLRT Grupp

“One of Klaipeda’s greatest advantages that attracted our attention 9 years ago is the great geographical position and the ice-free port. Also, we are very happy with the local professional staff – ranging from manual workers to engineers and managers.”

INFRAstRUCtURE PROVIDEDIndependent experts have ranked the Klaipeda Free Economic Zone site as the most suitable site for industrial development in the city of Klaipeda. It is a former agricultural land, levelled, pollution-free and directly connected to the industrial infrastructure.

The area has all the essential infrastructure in place, which is continuously being developed and maintained. since 2002, more than 21.5 million EUR from the European Union, national and private funds have been invested. Water, sewage, rain water collection, electricity, natural gas, heat supply and telecommunication supplies are fully available. site planning, preliminary investigations of soil, water and air conditions have already been conducted. Companies choosing to transfer their productive capacities to the Klaipeda Free Economic Zone are able to essentially shorten their set up time.

ESPERSEN LIETUVAReidar Inselseth, General Director, Espersen Lietuva

“One thing of vital importance to Espersen was the already established infrastructure. Roads, water and electricity were led almost down to the actual plant site and that meant we were able to start the construction process immediately and saved valuable time. The professional assistance from the FEZ administration is highly appreciated and very helpful. Planning applications are addressed efficiently, and the entire environment in the business park is friendly and inviting.”

sItEThe Klaipeda FEZ offers a wide selection of sites for industrial and warehousing use ranging from 0.5 ha up to 20 ha. Land plots have approved detailed plans. geological and archaeological research has also been carried out in the territory. the Klaipeda FEZ is connected to the national rail network and the main highway, which directly connects it to the motorway to Vilnius (A1), Riga (A13) and Kaliningrad (141).

INFRAstRUCtUREAlmost all sites have direct access from existing streets. the most important infrastructure is in place: a newly built water supply network of cast-iron DN600-400 and a waste water collector of DN1200-800, a high-pressure natural gas supply line, power grid and an optical telecommunication cable are available to all plots.

WAtER sUPPLy AND sEWERAgE systEMthe zone is supplied with safe drinking water. Rainwater from roofs and surface water are collected and conveyed through internal systems to site utilities, and this is then discharged into a specially built DN1200 rain water collector under the main street.

PACK KLAIPEDAVytautas Butvilas, CEO, Pack Klaipeda

“The Klaipeda Free Economic Zone is situated in a convenient geographic place. The good infrastructure (the excellent approach to the seaport and the proximity of the Vilnius–Klaipeda highway) encouraged us to start our activities here. In addition, the state applies some privileges to businesses in the FEZ territory. They are exempted from paying Profit Tax and Real Estate Taxes. We think the Klaipeda Free Economic Zone is an excellent place for starting a new business. We recommend to other investors to start their activities namely in the Klaipeda FEZ.”
