A MESSAGE FROM FRANK STINGO
Dear Mater Dei Parents, I pray that you and your families are safe.Thank you for your positive feedback and support since we rolled out our Distance Learning program. We are now in week two and are thrilled with the engagement and progress of our students so far. I am proud of our faculty for working so hard to deliver quality lessons on such short notice, and for our students who are exemplifying resilience in adopting to this new learning environment. If your child has not logged into Schoology, please make sure they do so ASAP. Remember that parents have access to all Schoology pages. If you need help logging on, please email [email protected]. The first deadline for assignments is due on March 26th. While we are all hoping to return to school after Easter, we are currently planning for what synchronous (real-time) learning will look like at MDCHS if
that is not possible. We are continuing to follow the guidance of the Diocese, CDC and SDCOE, and want to be prepared in the event that we are not able to return to our campus. We will keep you updated as decisions are made. We are working hard to increase our communication efforts on all fronts. If you are not connected to us on social media, please consider doing so. Also, you can check out our YouTube channel, Coronavirus Updates and Parents in Prayer web pages to stay informed and pray along with us each week. We are also always looking for ways we can be more supportive. Please take two minutes to give us your feedback here:

During this time of Distance Learning, our Counseling team will be working hard to replace all face-to-face counseling meetings with email communications to students and parents. If you had a meeting scheduled, please note that all meetings will be canceled for the time being and replaced with email communications. This is a great time for our Counselors to review all student academic files and provide added support and insights for the 2020/2021 school year.

REMOTE ROSARY Every Monday at 8am we will be praying the Rosary for our community and everyone affected by the COVID-19 virus. We will be hosting it through Zoom each week. Christian Service Hours
In accordance with the state and county health departments' guidelines, we are exempting Mater Dei Catholic High School students from their 2019-2020 Christian Service requirement. Any students who have completed their Christian Service for this school year are advised to submit their inventories and verification letters to their Theology teacher when we physically return to school. Any hours completed this year will be honored toward their Christian Service requirement for high school graduation. The graduation requirement has been reduced to 75 hours for the classes of 2020-2023.
Senior Capstone Project Given the state of our Distance Learning shift and the mandate to minimize contact with others, we have modified the requirements for the Senior Capstone Project. We are exempting Mater Dei Catholic High School seniors from the 10 hour capstone practicum, practicum report and capstone presentation. The capstone grade will be based on the capstone proposal, interview and take-away reflection. Any student who has not completed any of
those three assignments must do so immediately. The interview can be done via video conferencing or phone.
