With alumni inductees as successful as MitchellSaranow, the Chair of the venture capital firm TheSaranow Group, LLC, the Chicago AreaEntrepreneurship Hall of Fame Awards is the oldestand most widely recognized awards program forentrepreneurs. The Awards are supervised by theInstitute for Entrepreneurial Studies at the Universityof Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Each year, the programidentifies leading local business leaders andentrepreneurs from multiple industry sectors withdemonstrated successes in founding and/or buildingarea companies. Currently in its 28th year, theChicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame inductsmembers from Chicagos seven-county region.
- 3. As the organizer of the awards program, theUIC Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies alsomaintains a long history of elevating innovationand business development in Chicago. Thegroup establishes forums for faculty toencourage an innovative business spirit at theUniversity and hosts annual events torecognize, celebrate, and strengthen this spiritwithin the community.
- 4. Over the years, hundreds of Chicago businessleaders have been inducted into the ChicagoArea Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame. Theycome from such companies as National VanLines, One-on-One Sports, and Goose IslandBreweries. Some past winners includeSheldon Ginsburg from Shell Vacations,Richard Ditton of Incredible Technologies, andMitchell Saranow of (at the time) FluidManagement L.P. Many inductees also go onto continued success in the business world.
