PUPILS UPHOLD SCHOOL HONOR YOUNG PRIMARY GRADUATES ENTER HIGHER CLASSES LOS ANGELES EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM LAUDED Regular Exercises Held for '150 Ele. mentary Scholar* of More Than Ordinary fe school Merit of Los Angeles The school system of Lot Angsjle* has been a model held up to the world for many years. It has shown such Im- provement under the regime of Dr. B. - C. Moore that other cities and states frankly admit that th- cannot hope to overtake the holder of the palm ■ down In the southwestern corner of the United States. During- the past weak the results of the system have stood forth promi- nently. More than 1150 graduates of the city's elementary schools ha j<s en- tered the splendid high schools of Los Angeles. This army of students won , their honors through standings which are unequaled. The pupils taking up the heavier ed- ucational pursuits are but young chil- dren in years. Through mentality de- veloped In a school system second to knowledge than most of their parents received in common schools and lower grades in the high schools of the form- er generation. The average aga of the scholars who have just passed into the higher insti- tutions is not 15 years. Many of the children are one. two and three years younger. Therefore it was fitting that the signal houors won by these intelli- gent and advanced Juveniles should be recognized through regular graduating exercises. The occasion was as im- portant and meant as much to these talented scholars as to the most grave and reverend senior who ever received a sheepskin or a degree from a uni- versity. Therefore The Herald deems It a pleasure to record the names of eighth grade scholars who go to make up the ■ great roll of honor in Los Angeles for 1910. That they will maintain the high reputation of high and polytech- nic schools cannot be questioned. They ere the children of the most favored city on earth. ■ ' Here is the list of which Los Angeles is proud: EIGHTH GRADE PUPILS Berendo Street School Maud Abrams, Vsrna Allen. Merit

of Los AngelesThe school system of Lot Angsjle*has been a model held up to the worldfor many years. It has shown such Im-provement under the regime of Dr. B.

- C. Moore that other cities and statesfrankly admit that th- cannot hopeto overtake the holder of the palm

■ down In the southwestern corner of theUnited States.

During- the past weak the results ofthe system have stood forth promi-nently. More than 1150 graduates ofthe city's elementary schools ha j<s en-tered the splendid high schools of LosAngeles. This army of students won

, their honors through standings whichare unequaled.

The pupils taking up the heavier ed-ucational pursuits are but young chil-dren in years. Through mentality de-veloped In a school system second to

knowledge than most of their parentsreceived in common schools and lowergrades in the high schools of the form-er generation.

The average aga of the scholars whohave just passed into the higher insti-tutions is not 15 years. Many of thechildren are one. two and three yearsyounger. Therefore it was fitting thatthe signal houors won by these intelli-gent and advanced Juveniles should berecognized through regular graduatingexercises. The occasion was as im-portant and meant as much to thesetalented scholars as to the most graveand reverend senior who ever receiveda sheepskin or a degree from a uni-versity.

Therefore The Herald deems It apleasure to record the names of eighthgrade scholars who go to make up the

■ great roll of honor in Los Angeles for1910. That they will maintain thehigh reputation of high and polytech-nic schools cannot be questioned. They

ere the children of the most favored• cityon earth. ■
