    My Accident On My Bike When I WasEleven Years Old

    4hen + was preaching for about two years at the ;egency

    reen oste'! :ohn 4a'ker! the minister! gae me some ery

    sound adice& e said! okes! funny stories from books! other peop'e8s

    'ies! without putting them down! but particu'ar'y use your 

    stories from your own 'ife! that are unknown to peop'e! but

    a'ways keep to your message! that is the message from od!

    to peop'e through you& This was ery sound and time'y

    adice&

    + hae a'ways found that + was ab'e to compose poetry more

    easi'y than + was ab'e to compose prose! that is! written

    stories! but here goes&

    My Accident On My Bike When I WasEleven Years Old

    4hen + was e'een years o'd! + 'ied with my foster parents

    and my foster brother a? on a farm at ,e'a'ie orth! which

    is twe'e mi'es north of :amestown! in the mid@north of South

    $ustra'ia&

    a? gae me a second hand bike for the recent Christmas!

    and + >ust cou'dn8t wait to be ab'e to ride it& The bike was o'd

    fashioned! ery big for an e'een year o'd boy! who had neer 

    eer ridden a bike before that day&

    + wa'ked up to the top of the high hi'' with my bike!

    c'imbed up onto the high seat! (my feet cou'd >ust reach the

     peda's)! then + f'ew down the hi''! fee'ing as free as a bird! on

    this beautifu' sunny afternoon&

    + cou'd see a 'ong groe of bo?thorn berry bushes at the

     bottom of the hi''! but + fe't safe! knowing that + had brakes on

    my bike&

    Sudden'y + knew that + soon must app'y the brakes! but!

    horror of horrors! + forgot how to use them& + had two options!

     >ump off the bike and get hurt! or stay on the bike and get hurt&

    + chose to stay on the bike& ,efore + rea'i*ed what had

    happened! + hit the bo?thorn berry bush that was fu'' of thorns

    and >uicy ripe red berries&

    There + was! a 'itt'e crying e'een@year@o'd boy! b'eeding

    from thorns and red from s3uashed berries& + was not a pretty

    sight&

    + understand now that od saed me from a possib'e

    death! because >ust behind the bo?thorn berry bushes was a

    ery steep paddock& The bo?thorn berry bushes rea''y saed

    my 'ife&

    The Lord’s Prayer Give Us This DayOur Daily Bread

    This is the 4ord of the -ord& Thanks be to od&

    There was once a man who was wa'king a'ong a dirt path that

    was situated right in the midd'e of a ery big paddock in thecountry& The paddock was coered in wi'd f'owers! weeds and

    grass&

    The man wasn8t in a ery big hurry! so he >ust en>oyed the

    sunny day! wa'ked ery s'ow'y! >ust taking his time! and

    stopping now and then in order to pick some of the wi'd

    f'owers! then to sme'' their 'oe'y scent&

    4hen he reached the midd'e of the paddock! he stoppedwa'king! then he took a 'ong we''@earned rest& entua''y he

    stood up! deciding that it was time that he started wa'king

    again& ,efore continuing to wa'k across the paddock! he

    thought that it wou'd be good if he had a 'ook behind him! in

    order to see how far he had wa'ked& $t one end of the paddock 

    in a corner behind him! he saw something that he wished was

    not in the paddock& There right at the end of the paddock happi'y munching on the fresh green grass! was a ery big

     b'ack bu'' with ery 'ong pointed horns& ust hope that + wi''

     be ab'e to s'ow'y wa'k to the end of the paddock without the

     bu'' seeing me!8 said the man to himse'f&

    e >ust started to wa'k again! when the bu'' >ust happened

    to stop munching grass! 'ooked up to find new grass! then he

    saw the man in the distance! e then started to swish his tai' in

    anger! then snorted through his nose! then moed his head

    dust with his front feet&

    The bu'' ran towards the man! and the man ran for his 'ife!

     but the bu'' moed c'oser and c'oser! unti' the man cou'd fee'

    + discoered that my father was in and out of prison! from

    about 1%. unti' 1%7/ at 'east! maybe een 'onger! >ust

     because he was a compu'sie thief! and a ery strong

    a'coho'ic! and a ery angry and io'ent man& 4hen he was 'et

    out of prison! he >ust cou'dn8t cope with 'ife! so he was g'ad to

     be ab'e to do something wrong again! so that he cou'd get

     back into the prison again! so that he cou'd receie good food!

    good c'othes! and his prison friends once again& + haen8t seen

    "ad since + was seen years o'd! a'though + searched for him

    through the ;ed Cross organi*ation! and through the Sa'ation

    $rmy& The 'ast that + heard of him! was that he was in a prison

    in ,risbane in 1%7/! and that a fire destroyed a'' of the prisonrecords&

    od doesn8t >ust gie us ordinary bread& e a'so gies us

    spiritua' bread& The spiritua' bread that od gies us is is

    9ne and 9n'y! is uni3ue Son! that is! is 9n'y ,egotten

    Son! our -ord :esus Christ! whose body was broken for us!

    and is b'ood was spi''ed for us! so that if we be'iee in im!

    accept im as our -ord and Saiour! trust! 'oe! honour andobey im right up unti' the end of our 'ies! we wi'' hae

    $ 'ong time ago! king ebuchadne**ar who was king of a

    city ca''ed ,aby'on! captured the city of :erusa'em! and he

    took different things from the temp'e back to ,aby'on& e

    a'so took "anie' and three of his friends&

    9ne day the king 'et it be known! that if anyone prays to

    any god! or who prays to any person during the ne?t thirty

    days! e?cept to the king! they wou'd be thrown into the 'ions

    house and be eaten& 4hen "anie' heard this! for three times a

    day he kne't down on his knees! and prayed and gae thanks

    to od&

    had to 'ie in a home with many other boys and gir's&

    od then proided a way for me to escape from this

    horrib'e situation& e sent me far away from the boys8 home&

    e sent me far away into the country! to a farm at ,e'a'ie

     orth! which was twe'e mi'es north of :amestown in the

    mid@north of South $ustra'ia&

    od sent me to be cared for by a man and a 'ady! who

    were o'd enough to be my grandparents& od then proided a p'ace for me to work in the #ost 9ffice! for thirty fie years!

    and e proided my wife #au'ine! and our two chi'dren&

    od proided something far better than the things that e

     proided for me& e proided is 9ne and 9n'y Son! :esus

    Christ! to come to our arth! 'ie for about thirty three years!

    then for im to die on a crue' cross for eerybody! then to go

     back to od in eaen! and to sae a'' peop'e who continua''y

     be'iee! obey! fo''ow! 'oe! honour! and sere :esus! right up

    unti' their 'ast days on this arth! so that they wi'' 'ie in

    a schoo' of thought! for instance the :ehoah8s 4itnesses&

    $ pioneer cou'd a'so be the originator of a p'an of action! for 

    instance the imp'ementation of a crime preention scheme! by

    the eighbourhood 4atch organi*ation&

    4hat is a 'iberatorB

    $ person who de'iers another person! or a group of peop'e!

    from an inhuman tyrant! or an oppressie organi*ation! for 

    instance! the ;on ubbard brainwashing "ianetics

    :esus has been made perfect! through suffering& Since

    :esus8s brothers and sisters! that is! a'' true Christians! mustsuffer! so must :esus! if e is to be the kind of Captain that

    they need& ,y haing suffered! :esus is ab'e to gie us the he'p

    that we need& :esus 'itera''y fee's for us& +t is a'most

    impossib'e to understand another person8s sorrows! and suffer 

    them ourse'es& $ person who has no neres has no

    conception of the tortures of nerousness and depression& $

     person who is physica''y fit has no conception of the

    weariness of the person who is easi'y tired! and a'so the painof the person for whom 'ife is neer free of pain&

    +t is often true that a person who is c'eer and who 'earns

    easi'y! can8t understand why someone who is s'ow! finds

    things so difficu't& $ person who has neer had a great sorrow!

    can8t understand the heart pain of the person into whose 'ife

    has come great grief&

    $ person who has neer 'oed! can neer understandeither the sudden g'ory of 'oe! when it first comes! or the

    aching 'one'iness in the 'oer8s heart when it departs& ,efore

    we can hae sympathy! we must go through the same things as
