The Dual Credit program allows eligible high school students residing in the ACC service area to enroll in academic and workforce college level courses while in high school. Courses that are a part of the ACC core curriculum, a workforce course leading to a certificate or degree, foreign language, and KINE 1304/1305 are eligible for the dual credit tuition and fees waiver. Dual credit students will be limited to a total of 12 ACC course tuition/fee waivers. Courses taken that are not eligible for the tuition and fees waiver and courses taken after the 12-course limit has been reached will be charged regular tuition and fees based on the student’s residency. Courses dropped after the add/drop period for a session will count towards the 12-course waiver limit. High school students can earn college credit by taking Austin Community College classes at their high school, any ACC campus or center, or through ACC’s distance learning. In addition to college credit, students may earn credit toward their high school graduation requirements by completing dual credit courses approved by their independent school district. Eligibility High school students may co-enroll in Austin Community College once they have:
• Successfully completed 8th grade in a public, private, charter, or home school. • Received permission from their parent/guardian, high school counselor, and Principal. • Demonstrate college readiness in reading, writing, and math as required for the course(s)
they wish to enroll at ACC. Costs In-taxing district students Students who live within the Austin, Del Valle, Elgin, Hays, Leander, Manor, and Round Rock independent school districts and the City of Austin portions of Eanes and Pflugerville independent school do not pay tuition, lab fees, student activity fees, or insurance fees for up to 12 eligible courses. Out-of-taxing district students Students who reside within the ACC service area but outside of ACC’s tax district are assessed a $150 per-course fee for up to 12 eligible courses. This fee is waived if a student takes the course(s) at their high school campus. Students taking distance learning classes are charged the $150 per-course fee. Out-of-ACC-service-area students Students who reside outside of the ACC service area are not eligible for the dual credit tuition and fees waiver and are assessed regular tuition and fees and limited to three classes per academic year. The ACC service area can be found on page 6 and is established by the State of Texas Legislature. Other costs Students are required to pay for required textbooks and course materials. Textbook information can be obtained on the ACC online course schedule. Textbooks can average $100 dollars per ACC course. Students cannot be successful in a college course without the required textbook(s) and can be withdrawn from the class.

Welcome to a new academic school year with the ACC Dual Credit program! I would like to thank all high school counselors and the many high school staff members who spend countless hours assisting students enroll and register in ACC’s dual credit program. We appreciate all of your efforts to help your students become ACC students and earn college credits while in high school.
As a result of your outstanding cooperative efforts, the program continues to expand and grow. We have worked with many ISD’s to develop a one and two year course sequence to maximize the number of college credits eligible high school students may earn while in high school. Most ISD’s offer ACC classes during the regular school day, allowing all eligible students an opportunity to participate. For fall 2015, we have over 4,900 students enrolled and are offering 274 ACC sections in high schools throughout the ACC service area.
With recent legislative changes, college ready high school students can now begin dual credit enrollment as early as ninth grade. Dual credit continues to provide an outstanding benefit to your students and their families. Students who complete a college course prior to high school graduation are twice as likely to earn a college degree.
We hope you will continue to encourage your students to take classes according to their interests and needs, and that you will consider offering ACC classes on your high school campus or expanding your current course offerings. The dual credit team is dedicated to serving you and your students and we are extremely proud of our partnership with you.
Best wishes for another great school year!

To be considered a Texas resident, students must reside in Texas at least 12 months before enrollment into ACC and must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or non-citizen Texas resident. ACC recognizes the following classifications when determining tuition rates:
In-Taxing District: Texas residents are considered in-district if their address on file inAdmissions and Records is within ACC’s taxing district.
ACC’s taxing district includes Austin, Del Valle, Elgin, Hays, Leander, Manor, andRound Rock Independent School Districts and properties that pay “City of Austin”property taxes.
Property owners and their dependents living in Texas, outside the ACC tax district, butown property in-district and pay taxes supporting ACC, may be eligible for in-districttuition. A current property tax statement and dependency documents are required forverification each semester of enrollment. Property owners on most temporary visas arenot eligible for in-district classification.
Out-of-Taxing District: Texas residents who reside outside of the ACC tax district butwithin ACC service area are considered out of district, based on the address submitted on theACC application.
Out-of-ACC-service area: Students who reside outside of the ACC service area are noteligible for tuition waivers. Students are charged regular tuition and fees according to theirresidency status and are limited to three courses per academic year.
Out-of-State: Out of state students that reside outside of the ACC taxing district and withinthe ACC service area will be charged $150 per course unless the class is taken on a highschool campus.
Non U.S. Citizen or Non-Permanent Resident Status: Students can obtain an ACCissued alternate ID number by completing the Dual Credit Student Data Form for Non-U.S.Citizen Texas Residents.
Students are responsible for registering under the proper residency classification. Any questions concerning this classification should be clarified with the Admissions and Records Office before enrollment. Rules and regulations for determining residency status are defined under Title 3 of the Texas Education Code. To determine the appropriate residency classification, ACC is required to review enrollment documents for errors, inconsistencies, and misclassifications of residency. The College will take the necessary steps to see that appropriate adjustments are made if a misclassification occurs. Additional documentation of Texas residency may be required if the college determines that the information given on the enrollment documents is not adequate to verify residency.

ACCeID: Prior to registration, claim your ACCeID and set your password and security questions. From the ACC homepage (www.austincc.edu) select “ACCeID” from the row of links on the top of the page. Follow the three steps to obtain, activate, and set your security questions. Your ACCeID will give you full access to your ACC records using your ACC online services account. For assistance, contact the ACC Help Desk at (512) 223-4636 or www.austincc.edu/help.
ACC EMAIL: After activating your ACCeID, you can activate your permanent ACC secure student email. All ACC notification are delivered to students via ACC email address. Activate your ACC email at www.austincc.edu/accmail and click “Activation + Login Assistance” on the left hand side, then click “Activate ACCmail” and follow prompts. You must have your ACCeID to activate your ACC email. For assistance, contact the ACC Help Desk.
Tuition and Fees Waiver: Austin Community College will waive tuition and fees for 12 courses per student, residing within the ACC taxing district. Out-of-district students will be charged a per-course fee for courses taken at any non-high school location or via distance learning for 12 courses per student, after which regular tuition and fees will be charged. Out-of-district students will not be charged the per-course fee if they take classes scheduled at a high school campus or demonstrate financial need through documented eligibility for free lunch or family eligibility for public assistance. The dual credit tuition and fees waiver can only be applied to college credit courses that are a part of the ACC core curriculum, a workforce course leading to a certificate or associate of applied science degree, foreign languages, and KINE 1304/1305. All remaining ACC courses will be assessed regular tuition and fees according to a student’s residency.
SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS (SAP): College records are permanent; therefore, it’s important to maintain satisfactory academic progress while enrolled at ACC, even while in high school. Failure to do so may affect future college financial aid and/or transfer eligibility. The elements of SAP are grade point average, completion ratio, and maximum time frame.
All students in the dual credit program must maintain a satisfactory academic progress (SAP) level of 2.0 GPA and 67% course completion rate. Students who fall below SAP will lose their tuition waiver for one probationary semester. Failure to maintain SAP for two semesters (consecutive or nonconsecutive) will result in a student being ineligible for the dual credit tuition and fees waiver. Dual credit students who do not maintain good academic standing are additionally subject to further disciplinary action as outlined in the ACC Student Handbook.
TEXTBOOKS and course supplies are NOT included in tuition and fees. Textbooks can be purchased at an ACC Bookstore or other book retailers (average price per class is $100). ACC Campus Bookstores: www.austin.bncollege.com

Out-of-district students will be charged a per-course fee for courses taken at any non-high school location orvia distance learning for 12 courses per student, after which regular tuition and fees will be charged. Out-of-district students willnot be charged the per-course fee if they take classes scheduled at a high school campus or demonstrate financial need throughdocumented eligibility for free lunch or family eligibility for public assistance. The dual credit tuition and fees waiver can only beapplied to college credit courses that are a part of the ACC core curriculum, a workforce course leading to a certificate orassociate of applied science degree, foreign languages, and KINE 1304/1305. All remaining ACC courses will be assessedregular tuition and fees according to a student’s residency. Review payment information carefully during registration. Dualstudents who reside outside of the ACC service area will be charged regular tuition and fees at the rate applicable to studentresidency.
4. All students in the dual credit program must maintain a satisfactory academic progress (SAP) level of 2.0 GPA and 67% coursecompletion rate. Students who fall below SAP will lose their tuition waiver for one probationary semester. Failure to maintain SAPfor two semesters (consecutive or nonconsecutive) will result in a student being ineligible for the dual credit tuition and feeswaiver. Dual credit students who do not maintain good academic standing are additionally subject to further disciplinary action asoutlined in the ACC Student Handbook.
5. Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP): College records are permanent; therefore, it’s important to maintain satisfactory academicprogress while enrolled at ACC, even while in high school. Failure to do so may impact future college financial aid and transfereligibility. The elements of SAP are grade point average, completion rate, and maximum time frame requirements.
6. Schedule changes can be made during the designated add/drop period for each semester. Classes dropped after the add/dropperiod has ended will count as a tuition waiver used. Classes dropped after the official reporting date for a session will record as a“W” on official college records and may impact satisfactory academic progress (SAP) for future financial aid eligibility. If you havequestions about your SAP status, contact the Dual Credit office or visit an ACC advising or counseling office at an ACC campus. For questions, please contact the Dual Credit office at (512) 223-7066.
7. You own your college academic records. Even if you are a minor, your academic records may not be released to your parent orguardian without your consent, under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
8. College course content and ACC expectations of students are not modified in any way to accommodate a student under age 18.
9. Dual high school credit is determined by each independent school district or high school, not ACC.
10. If you do not consent for ACC to report college records to high school officials, you must provide an official ACC transcript to yourhigh school to transfer grades. Other student information, such as test scores and withdrawals must be reported directly by you asrequired by your high school, if you do not consent. Official ACC transcripts are available 1-2 weeks after the last day of eachsession and can be requested using ACC online services. Transcripts are also available in person at any ACC CampusAdmissions and Records office.
11. ACCeID: A secure ACC student account number can be activated and claimed 24 hours after your online admission application issubmitted at www.austincc.edu/acceid. Once obtained, your ACCeID will give your full access to your ACC college records, including class schedules, transcripts, TSI status, etc. If you have claimed your ACCeID, but have forgotten it, you can resetonline at www.austincc.edu/acceid, or by contacting the ACC Helpdesk at (512) 223-4636, online at www.austincc.edu/help [email protected].

2015-‐2016 Core Curriculum To be used with transfer programs or Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, and Associate of Arts in Teaching degrees
Students should visit with an academic advisor to ensure that they take the correct courses for their ACC degree program in addition to the major for their chosen transfer college or university.
Texas law mandates that all state-‐supported colleges and universities offer a core curriculum of at least 42 credits that will automatically transfer to all Texas public colleges and universities. ACC will designate core curriculum courses completed by a student on the official ACC transcript. If a student satisfies all component areas, the message “Core Curriculum Completed” will appear on the transcript, and that block of courses must be substituted for the receiving institution’s core curriculum. Students may not be required to take additional core curriculum courses unless the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has approved a larger core for the receiving institution. Students who transfer without completing the core curriculum receive academic credit for each of the courses they successfully completed in the ACC core curriculum.

When a high school or underage student enrolls in a post-secondary institution, all student records are protected according to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act1 (FERPA). This means that parents are not given access to their student’s records without the authorization of the student. A parent wishing to complete a transaction for his or her child must have a proxy authorization.
A student proxy authorization authorizes a person listed on the completed form to serve as a proxy for ACC transactions initialed on the form at Austin Community College. Located in Form section.
A student proxy authorization can be used only once. A new, completed, signed and dated proxy is required each time this or any other person acts as a proxy. The student (not proxy) has ultimate responsibility for complying with applicable requirements, policies, payments, and deadlines. This form must have an original student signature along with a copy of the student’s photo ID to be valid.

Things you can do to HELP students with registration:
Verify the registration eligibility periods for the correct time and date to register. Detailedregistration times are listed on the online course schedule.
Distribute the Dual Credit Online Registration Worksheet, which includes detailed onlineregistration instructions.
Refer students to the course schedule and ACC Registration Helpline (512) 223-4636 [email protected]. ACC offers “live chat” at www.austincc.edu/help.
Provide internet accessible computers to allow registration at high school campus for students toregister on their own using ACC online services with their ACCeID.
REQUIRE students to verify their registration by printing out a “my class schedule” from theirACC online account or by visiting a campus Admissions Office with a photo ID.
Instruct all students to pay balance due by the payment deadlines or contact their dual creditspecialist if they are given a tuition balance they believe is not correct. Failure to make requiredtuition and fees payment by posted deadlines will result if being dropped from classes.
Reasons NOT to register students yourselves (includes parents):
Registration is a student-driven process, and a necessary skill to have in college.
Students will blame you if they are not in the correct class and/or time.
Students will blame you if they get dropped from their class for any reason.
If you register for them, they will expect it each semester. Students will also likely come to youeach time they need to make adjustments which, will involve many hours of registration assistance.
Students can be enrolled in a class they are unaware of, not attending, and receive a failing grade, which will affect their permanent college record.
Students, and especially parents, will hold you responsible.
Students will not be prepared to use the system to make changes to their schedule duringadd/drops period, also a student-driven process.

Students who are unable to complete a course, must officially withdraw from the course. Students can withdraw using online services before the published withdraw deadline. When a student withdraws before the 12th official class day for a 16-week session, the course is not recorded on a student’s ACC transcript. All other withdraws report as a “W” on the ACC official record.
Discontinuing attendance, never attending, or notifying the instructor does not constitute official withdrawal. A change to a high school student’s schedule does NOT constitute official withdrawal.
Students who fail to officially withdraw from a course will receive a grade of “F” for the course, and this will be a permanent part of the student’s college record which may or may not affect the ability to transfer or be admitted to other colleges or universities or receive future financial aid upon high school graduation. All courses with a performance grade (including W) will affect satisfactory academic progress and future financial aid eligibility.
Official withdrawal after the State reporting date for each semester will report as a W on official college records. W’s do not calculate into a student’s GPA. W’s received while enrolled in high school at Austin Community College will not count towards the 6 drop rule; however, once a student completes six credit hours or two semesters at ACC they must maintain at a 50% course completion ratio to remain on good academic standing. Students who fall below 50% will be required to meet with an ACC counselor to determine eligibility for future enrollment or may be required to sit out a semester. Withdrawals may affect financial aid eligibility upon high school graduation if the overall completion ratio is less than 67% at the time of high school graduation.
Instructor-Initiated Withdrawals A student who is not in compliance with course policies or meeting course objectives in the syllabus may be withdrawn from the course at the discretion of the instructor.
When the instructor withdraws a student, written notice will be sent by the College via ACCmail.
Appealing an Instructor Initiated-Withdrawal A student may appeal a course withdrawal in writing immediately upon notification by the instructor or within five business days after postmark of the College notice of withdrawal.
The written appeal shall be made initially to the course instructor, who will respond in writing within five business days. The student may appeal the instructor’s decision within five business days to the appropriate Department Chair, then Academic Dean, whose decision will be final.
The student may attend class, submit assignments, and take tests for grading through the final disposition of the appeal unless there are established course or program guidelines that would prohibit the student from returning to class.
Dual credit students are limited to a total of 12 course tuition/fee waivers. Courses dropped after add/drops for a session will count as a tuition waiver used. Once the 12th course is reached, students will be assessed regular tuition and fees according to their residency status.

Tuition and fees are waived for ACC courses that are on the ACC core curriculum, a workforce certificate or degree, foreign languages, and KINE 1304/1305. All remaining ACC courses will be assessed full tuition and fees according to student residency.
In-Taxing District: Tuition and fees are waived for up to 12 ACC eligible classes while in high school.

TOP 5 Reasons to Schedule ACC classes on your high school campus
1. It is the best way to increase the dual credit enrollment at your high school.2. Students are in a comfortable environment and much more likely to sign up for the course.3. On-site ACC classes eliminate transportation problems.4. You determine the course(s) to offer, applicable to your school and students’ needs.5. Classes are FREE for your students – all CORE curriculum, workforce course and foreign
language classes taken on a high school campus are tuition waived for students who reside in theACC service area.
How to schedule an ACC Class on your High School Campus
1. Talk to your dual credit specialist by the published deadlines and supply them with theinformation below. THE SOONER THE BETTER! Course requests must be submitted priorto the deadline for each semester. Refer to Calendar for deadlines.
2. Determine the ACC course(s) you would like to have on campus. Example: HIST 1302 U.S.History II and ENGL 1301 English Composition I, if you would like assistance in courseplanning, contact your specialist.
3. Determine days of the week you would like to schedule the class. Example: MW or TTh. ManyACC department will not approve a MWF high school section, as finding available faculty for a Fclass, will be very difficult.
4. In order to hold an ACC class on your high school campus, you must anticipate enrollment of 16or more college ready students. Classes that enroll fewer will be cancelled for low enrollment. For this reason, we strongly recommend 23-25 eligible students prior to request.
5. Determine class meeting times. Required instructional times vary based on number of contacthours required for ACC course. Contact your specialist for minimum instructional times.Generally speaking a 16wk, twice a week class will require a minimum of 85 per class day; thisallows three ACC cancellation days for ISD holiday conflicts.
6. Room number and room capacity (how many student desks plus instructor)Example: Room 23H, capacity 32
Having a course on your campus is dependent on approval from the ACC department chair, number of students enrolled, and availability of ACC faculty.

Dual credit students, who will graduate from high school and intend to enroll at ACC immediately after graduation, must visit an ACC campus Admissions Office prior to registration (usually in March and April.) to have official ACC records converted from DUAL to TRAD.
Students will need to complete a “Notice of Missing Credentials” form. This form is a promissory note for the final high school transcript with graduation date. Upon completion of the missing credentials form, a student’s record will be converted to a traditional student status and extended time will be permitted for the final high school transcript. Upon conversion to traditional college student status, a student must:
1. Complete and submit a residency information form2. Update mailing address3. Provide documentation of meningitis vaccination or exemption4. Meet with an ACC academic advisor for course selection
For example: A high school senior is enrolled at ACC during the spring semester, will graduate from high school, and plans to continue at ACC the summer immediately following graduation.
TSI Status
Once a dual credit student graduates from high school, (s) he will be re-evaluated for TSI. Please advise students to meet with an ACC academic advisor at any ACC campus to fully understand how TSI applies to traditional college students. PSAT and PLAN results are not permanent; therefore, upon high school graduation, students must provide permanent ACT, SAT, STAAR (English III & Algebra II) exemption scores, course based completion of C or better, or take TSI Assessment Test.
For example: A dual credit student, who does not pass the math section of TSI Assessment, is not required to participate in mandatory developmental math each semester while in high school. Upon graduation, unless a student retests and passes all sections, the student must enroll concurrently in the required math development course until the test is passed or until the student successfully completes the exit level developmental course.
