We are hiring staff to expand our hours and offer staffed open play times after school and on weekends. For more information about the PlayGarden visit www.childrensplaygarden.org Job Specifics: Job Title: Open Play Staff Supervisor: Inclusive Programs Director Start Date: April 17,2019 Days/Hours: 20 hours/week, afternoons and weekends Rate of Pay: $17-$18/hour DOE, $485 benefit stipend each month Responsibilities: Collaborate with Inclusive Programs Director in the planning & implementation of our Open Play program Welcome visitors to the PlayGarden, facilitate play interactions, act as PlayGarden “host” Create a warm, inviting, inclusive play environment Assist with data collection and collect feedback from visitors Curate outdoor exhibits, including the mud pit, tree fort, and vegetable garden Assist with the creation of an “inclusive play toolkit” Offer support to children and their families, as needed Assist in set-up and clean up of the activities and facility Assist in gardening, animal care and site maintenance Job Requirements: Experience working with children of all abilities and ages and their parents/caregivers Bachelor’s degree in education, child development, or a related field OR a combination of education and experience which demonstrates the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the responsibilities listed above Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with adults and children from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. Ability to work with limited supervision and considerable self-direction. Must be playful, responsible, and creative Must be passionate about inclusion Current CPR and First Aid certification (within 30 days of employment) Ability to work outside in all weather Warm, caring, outgoing personality Ability to pass a WA State background check Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google documents Desired Qualifications Bilingual ability Background in art, gardening, acting/storytelling To apply send a cover letter and resume to [email protected]
