luncheon to honour His Holiness the 14th Dalai

Lama’s 78th Birthday.• Creation of sacred

sand mandala.• Official opening address by Sonam Dagpo,

Australian Representative of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

• Traditional Tibetan music performance.

Afternoon: Entertainment• 2.30pm Lhapsol: An Incense Offering Ceremony,

is performed by Tibetans on a regular basis to mark important events. It is intended to please the deities, ward off evils and purify the environment.

• 3pm Screening of Ngawang Choephel’s award winning film “Tibet in Song”, a testament to his love for Tibet and contains original music composed by Ngawang himself.

• 6.30 - 9pm Tibetan music concert, with internationally acclaimed Tibetan performers

Tenzin Choegyal - resides in Brisbane Australia, his extraordinary vocal ability and diverse musical talents have enchanted audiences around the globe.Lhamo Dolma - currently living in Newcastle Australia, brings to Melbourne her hauntingly beautiful voice which will transport the listener to the highest reaches of the Himalayan peaks. Tenzing Yeshi - Melbourne’s own, singing folk, nomadic songs and Tibetan Opera - all unique Tibetan art forms with mythical & spiritual origins.

9pm Dedication and prayer for the Long Life of His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama.

Sunday July 7th

• 10am Prayer & meditation talk by a Tibetan Lama.• 10.45am Display of traditional Tibetan costumes

and dress.

11am Panel Discussion “Tibet the Third Pole” discussing the importance of the Tibetan Plateau to the global environment.

at Tibetan Govt. in Exile, Dharamsala, India.Followed by Q and A Session.

1.30 – 4pm Workshops: including Tibetan dance, Tibetan calligraphy and Thangka painting with world renowned Tibetan painter- Karma Phuntsok.

• Personal stories of ex-political prisoners from local Tibetan exile community.
