BEHIND THE SCENESThere are 350 workers onsite constructing the new parallel mall and multi-deck car park, and refurbishing existing areas including the new fresh food marketplace and eatery near Woolworths, Centre Court and South Myer Mall. So naturally there is always a hive of activity behind the hoardings.

In Palm Tree car park, the concrete on the lower levels of your new multi-deck car park has been poured and we’re on target to opening all levels to shoppers by mid-year.

Behind Galleria Mall, we have demolished part of Starfish car park and are now laying the foundations for the new parallel mall that will be home to approximately 70 new food, local and international fashion retailers. Centre Court has also been demolished to make way for its new design.

Myer closed its doors in January 2016 so it could accelerate the refurbishment of the store, which is set to be the first of its kind to showcase the company’s new look.

STORMWATER UPGRADE

As part of the Stage 2 stormwater upgrade, there will be some temporary parking changes to the car parks in Westfield Warringah Mall alongside Condamine Street.

These changes include:

– The small car park between Seahorse (Target) car park down ramp and HCF building will be closed.

– Traffic flow in Crab (Coles) car park will be changed.

We thank you for your patience during these works.

As part of the redevelopment, Westfield Warringah Mall is upgrading the stormwater drainage network that flows through its site to protect the centre and adjacent properties from flooding during extreme weather.

Before the Mall was built more than 50 years ago, Brookvale Creek ran through the site. A drainage system was constructed to divert water beneath the centre and discharge back into the creek within Warringah Golf Course.

But if there was a one in 100-year rain event, Brookvale Creek would overflow where it enters the drainage system and inundate the centre and surrounding properties in Green and Cross streets.

The stormwater upgrade includes the installation of twin box culverts, under a number of our car parks including the multi-level car park we are currently constructing, to reduce the risk of flooding to the centre and the surrounding area.

Employing 70 workers at any given time, this is a substantial project that will have a huge benefit to Westfield Warringah Mall and the surrounding properties during significant rain events.
