Born June 15, 1594 in Les Andelys, Normandy1612- entered the workshop of mannerist

painter J. Lallemald. He did an independent study of Italian art.

1628- painted an alter piece for a chapel in St. Peter’s Cathedral (Martyrdrom of St. Erasmus).

1624-30- Poussin’s painting included mythological themes, sweet love, poetical inspiration, and carefree happiness

1630’s- Nicolas’s paintings were complex and compound with many characters
