OBJECTIVES
To assess the safety of drinking tea in Romania and Republic of Moldova.
To correlate individual consumption individual consumption habits habits with the quality the quality of commercialized products.
MATERIAL AND METHOD1. An online questionnaire about tea consumption habits was distributed using social networks
2. We selected 71 varieties of teas and analyzed them at the Biochemistry Department of UMPh Tîrgu Mureș
3. We analyzed data using Microsoft Excel software

CONCLUSIONS
1. Rep. Moldova records a more important tea consumption than Romania.
2. Even if we found a lower level of fluoride in Moldova marketed teas, its toxic effect is highly amplified by the large concentration
of fluoride in country's drinking waters.
3. In Romania the risk of fluorosis increases
at consumption of more than 2 cups of tea per
day and it’s higher in children.
4. We recommend a moderate tea consumption,
especially in areas with increased fluoride levels
in drinking water.
