We perceive them every day instantly, all around us and we take this process naturally, but have you ever imagined how our world would look without colours? Or have you asked yourselves why we prefer green, for example, instead of blue? Have you ever been aware of the effect that colours have upon our moods or feelings? The following lines will take you on a short journey in the magnificent realm of colours.

RedThrough its power, strength and brightness, red is considered everywhere the symbol of vitality. It is also the colour of blood and fire. In the Extreme Orient it generally reminds of heat, intensity, action and passion. Embodiment of enthusiasm and of the heady youth, red is, in the Irish tradition, the expression of war. In Japan, red is worn almost exclusively by women and it is an emblem of happiness and honesty. This colour is an universal stimulant. It has a good effect on blood and helps cellular regeneration, as well it amplifies the power of will and the courage. It gives a general perception of warmth, it increases the muscular tone, stimulates the breathing process, it excites, provokes, urges to action both physically and intellectually, facilitates the associations of ideas.

OrangeBeing a combination between red and yellow, orange has the greatest capacity of producing photochemical reactions. From the clothes worn by the Buddhist monks or the Holy Spirit’s cavaliers velvet cross, to the fiancés’ veil as a symbol of marriage, or to the Greek muses’ dresses, orange stands for the equilibrium between spirituality and libido.
