“A Clear and Present Danger!”
Hebrews 9:27
(“Save Yourself?!”)
Sounds like riveting reading, doesn’t it? Want
to use this to introduce the idea there are still some
matters that warrant our concerns…
UNIVERSALISM
The belief that ultimately everyone
goes to heaven. After all, God is a loving God, and a
loving God wouldn’t send anyone to hell,
right?…
SYNCRETISMLiterally means “a
union of communities.” You
simply take what you like about various
belief systems and put them all together into your own self-made
religion…
Purpose:to better understand what being
saved by grace alone means
“Everyone should go to
the ballet just as often as
they can…”
Don’t you like those pithy sayings with the “pregnant pause” in the
middle (i.e. use of ellipsis…)?
Everybody ought to go to Warm Glow Candle Outlet as often as they can… and I have!
Ignore youth teeth… they’ll go away!
Falling from the 50th floor won’t kill you… it’s the sudden stop at the bottom that will!
I Everyone is Headed to Heaven… Judgment
A. All Will Die Physically
B. Then Comes the Judgment
Matthew 25:31-46“When the Son of Man comes… All the nations will be gathered before
Him, and He will separate the people one from another as a
shepherd separates the sheep from the goats… Then they will go away
to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
Matthew 7:13-14
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many
enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to
life, and only a few find it.”
II All Roads Lead to God… One Way
A. How We Approach God
If everyone is gong to heaven anyway,
how we all get there must not be that important…
the way we approach God
really isn’t important…
So many have decided to teach that the way we approach God really isn’t
important. Listen how kindly, loving and politically correct this all sounds:

A. How We Approach God
B. God’s Way of Approaching Him
Exodus 20:3-5“You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself
an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on earth beneath or
in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them;
for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God.”
Acts 4:12
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven
given to men by which we must be saved.”
Ephesians 4:3-6“Make every effort to keep the unity
of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one
Spirit – just as you were called to one hope when you were called – one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one
God and Father of all, Who is over all and through all and in all.”
1 Timothy 2:5
“For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the
man Christ Jesus.”
John 14:5-6
“Thomas said to Him, ‘Lord, we don’t know where You are going, so how can we know the way?’ Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the
truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’”
Romans 3:20
“Therefore no one will be declared righteous in His sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we
become conscious of sin.”
III You Have All the Time in the World… But a Moment
A. All the Time You Need
U.S. Supreme Court Building
“A pardon is a piece of paper, the value of
which depends upon its acceptance by the
person implicated. It is hardly to be supposed that a person under
the sentence of death would refuse to accept a pardon; but, if it is
refused, it is no pardon. George
Wilson must die.”
III You Have All the Time in the World… But a Moment
A. All the Time You Need
B. Guaranteed Time is NOW
A conservative figure for automobile fatalities each day in the U.S. is 100…
Each day a conservative figure for those who die because of heart disease is
1,500…
2 Corinthians 6:2
“For He says, ‘In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.’ I tell you,
now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”
Summary and Conclusion:
“Yesterday is history… Tomorrow is mystery… Today is a gift. That’s why it is called ‘the
present.’”
