California,.Berkeley,.a.position.he.has.held.since.1994..There.his.duties.include.direct-ing.and.arranging.for.the.Cal.Marching.Band.and.conducting.the.University.Wind.Ensemble.and.Symphonic.Band..Calonico.programmed.the.Cal.Band’s.most.recent.recording,.“University.of.California.Band,”.released.in.May.of.

2003..The.University.Wind.Ensemble.was.invited.to.perform.under.his.direction.at.the.Califor-nia.Music.Educator’s.State.Conference.in.March.of.2000.and.has.shared.the.stage.with.their.counterparts.at.CSU.Fresno,.UC.Davis,.Los.Medanos.College,.Stanford.University,.University.of.the.Pacific.and.the.University.of.Tokyo.

In.2007,.he.was.named.the.new.Associate.Conductor.of.the.Danville.Community.Band,.an..85-piece.band.performing.in.the.East.Bay.since.2001..With.35.years.of.professional.experi-ence,.he.has.performed.with.the.Oakland.East.Bay.Symphony,.Oakland.Ballet,.California.Symphony,.Berkeley.Symphony,.Berkeley.Repertory.Theater,.many.San.Francisco.based.Broadway.show.productions. including.Phantom.of.the.Opera.and.West.Side.Story,.Nata-lie.Cole,.Ella.Fitzgerald,.Ray.Charles,.Maria.Muldaur,.James.Brown,.Tex.Beneke.and.Harry.James.Orchestras.among.others..

Inaugu-ral.Parade..Named.the.“official.band.of.San.Francisco”.in.2003,. the.Band. is.the.world’s.first.openly.gay.music.organization,.inspiring.the.formation.of.lesbian.and.gay.bands,. choruses. and. performing. troupes. around. the.world..Founded.in.1978.by.Jon.Sims.at.the.height.of.Anita.Bryant’s. anti-gay. crusade,. the. Band. debuted. march-ing.behind.Supervisor.Harvey.Milk’s.convertible. in. the.San.Francisco.Gay.Freedom.Day.Parade.and.has.been.making.music.to.build.understanding.between.gay.and.non-gay.communities.for.more.than.30.years..

Along.with.its.Community.Concert.Series.and.award-winning.parade.performances,.the.Band.regularly.appears.at.community.events.such.as.the.30th.anniversary.Milk/Moscone.Candle-light.March,.No.on.8.protest.marches.and.street.demonstrations.and.the.Hayward.Gay.Prom..The.Band.is.proud.to.have.recreated.its.debut.in.the.1978.Gay.Freedom.Day.Parade.for.the.Oscar-winning.film.“Milk.”
