A call for meta-analyses, systematic, and qualitativeliterature reviews

Addiction Research and Theory is a journal with a broad diverse and international readership.

Hence, we attract authors who publish sophisticated scholarship on addictive disorders –

scholarship that represents many intellectual streams flowing through the addictive disorders

field worldwide. We have recently noted that in the field of addictions there lacks a major

identifiable home for the publication of review articles – something that exists in other

disciplines.

Because of our unique position as a journal with a broad international readership

who have multiple intellectual interests in addictive behaviors, we have decided to expand

our mission. In addition to publishing primary studies, case studies, and theoretical articles,

a new goal of Addiction Research and Theory is to ‘become the major identifiable outlet in the

addictions field for the publication of meta-analyses (and other quantitative reviews),

systematic reviews, and qualitative literature reviews’. We, therefore, invite scholars of all

stripes to view us as the journal for the purpose of informing the world about the major trends

in treatment, theory, and the basic science of addictions.
