07.26.18 Executive Summary Professional Development Jami has already received feedback from CDE coaches on a preliminary action plan required from the Best First Instruction conference. Claudia and Andy also reviewed this action plan. It is mainly focused on getting down to the basics of planning for student success - digging into the standards, thoughtfully creating student learning targets and success criteria, and focusing on the student engagement piece even more. CDE sent over several resources and tools related to the action plan, and are open to coming to the school to give PD if needed. We will adopt the FOCUS philosophy and it will be the driving purpose school wide this year. This ties in to the back to basics theme. FORMING STRONG RELATIONSHIPS WITH AND AMONGST STUDENTS OPERATING WITH HIGH EXPECTATIONS AND CLEAR TARGETS IN PLACE CREATING ENGAGEMENT THROUGH MEANINGFUL EXPERIENCES UTILIZING DATA STRATEGICALLY TO INFORM INSTRUCTIONAL PLANNING SUPPLYING SPECIFIC AND TIMELY FEEDBACK TO ENSURE EACH CHILD ACHIEVES HIS/HER PERSONAL BEST Teachers will be receiving PD at the beginning of the year related to our new curricula and well as the literacy curriculum, Burst reading interventions, student engagement strategies, and mental health/first aid, among a smattering of other topics to prepare for the new year. Teachers will also review classroom management by discussing the effective and consistent use of CHAMPS, along with an overview of restorative practices. This PD will be introduced through Google Classroom to encourage the use of the programs available through G-Suite. Teachers have received an invitation to the school calendar to link with their own school calendars. We are working on automating and/or streamlining some documents to auto populate in a Google Document, with the use of Autocrat and Google sheets. It is also the plan to gather meeting notes from teachers in the same way, so we have a running log for documentation purposes. Staffing We hired a custodian, Pam Havens, who is working part-time right now to get the school ready for the return of students and teachers. Curriculum

We are moving forward with the purchase of TCI for both social studies and science. After meeting with a group of teachers, we are working on integrating the cultural and artistic aspects of Paragon into the new curriculum. Reviewed Singapore Math curriculum and we are identifying a variety of differentiation strategies and resources to reach all students. ALso discussed methods for in class workshop methods to allow for a variety of acceptable outcomes based on student growth need. Reviewed the MAP program and compared it to Moby Max to ensure the assessment program is effective in presenting the most helpful information to meet student outcomes. The Moby Max program functions will be more of an intervention tool, which can be compared to Burst. The Burst program is much more versatile and it is a program AAK will be utilizing this school year as an intervention program campus-wide. Reviewed the SEL curriculum and shared the program overview with teachers. Teachers are open to the structured program that will promote a positive school culture and a safe classroom environment, through an open dialogue. We will discuss the new name for Paragon Nights when teachers return. Events We have several events scheduled for the summer to stay connected with our families: July 10, 11am-2pm Promenade Kids Days at the Shops at Centerra Promenade Kids Days was busy and we ran out of our art project! We have a couple leads that are being followed up with. July 14, 11am Picnic at Spring Canyon Park

We had a

August 1, 4pm Get Together at Twin Silo Park Fort Collins’ newest park is a great spot to get together before school starts! We will be encouraging our families to bring new families with them. August 20, 4-6pm Back to School Night and BBQ

Page 15: A c ad e my of A r ts an d K n ow l e d ge ak a N or th e ......Jul 26, 2018  · 1. Name: Scott Simmons 2. Home Address: 924 Barn Yard Drive, Windsor, CO 80550 3. Employer: Protegrity

Our Back to School BBQ was such a hit last year we decided to combine it with Back to School Night this year! Class lists will be posted, you can meet your teacher, drop off school supplies, check our our after school activities, and so much more! Bring a side to share, we'll provide hot dogs and beverages. Recruitment A mailer went out to the north Loveland neighborhood announcing a school closing. Madwire has increased our online ad presence. We have discussed looking at the local charter school programs to see what services and opportunities they offer to their students and how these compare to what we currently provide. We have also discussed also promoting the use of restorative practices in working with children. This in correlation with our SEL daily services will interest parents. We can also promote the monthly parenting talks/book chats Claudia will be scheduling that will reinforce the SEL curriculum and open a strong line of positive communication. Non-parents can also be invited to the monthly parenting talks. It will be easy to promote interest with our current families in attendance. These parents are our best advocates. It will be clarified that the talks are just a way to share tips with other community families, and that Claudia is not a trained certified therapist. Time permitting, we can offer a prospective AAK community member open house and display video presentations of past Paragon Nights, student artwork, strong writing samples and curriculum resources ( manipulatives), promoting the FOCUS ideals, Music program footage and anything else that might catch their attention. There are organizations that can help with recruitment for a fee. Schoolmint, but the fees may outweigh the current need. The use of hashtags to get the word out as the school year begins will also be a powerful tool to promote all the fantastic opportunities our school has to offer. #AAKELEMENTARY- Promoting Curriculum #AAKARTS- Music/Drama/Arts #AAKMOVES- PE/Health #AAK____-SEL Curriculum in action #AAKFUN-Assemblies/Community Nights/fieldtrips Enrollment
