She began writing her life story in French.

Florence had been sick at the time she was

writing her life story in French.

1853

She became a superintendent of a

charity hospital in London.

She wanted to help keep people

healthy and active.

1854She led thirty-eight nurses to serve in the

Crimean War.

Florence was very happy when she found

out she could go to the Crimean War

because she always wanted to help more

than just the people in her town.

1860

She opened the Nightingale Training school for

nurses.

Florence was never going

to give up, ever.

1870

Florence helped

start the first

British Red Cross.

Florence was very

old at the time.
