Does a near-space hot air balloon ride sound exciting ? A start-up company based in Tucson, Ariz., called World View Enterprises hopes to start the real trips to the edge of the space in a balloon in 2016 for only $75,000.

- It ride will be a ‘near-space ride’ as opposed to the actual space, as the space begins at an altitude of 62 miles and the balloon will reach the maximum altitude of 18 miles (30km) .

- The spacecraft, a pressurized capsule with room for six passengers and two pilots, will be attached to a 40 million cubic foot helium balloon and take about 1.5 – 2 hours to rise to the height of 18 miles.

- Several transparent sections in the craft would allow viewers to look out from all sides of the structure. - Passengers will be able to gaze at Earth for about two hours, during which time the semi-space tourists will be free to move about the cabin and take in the expansive view. - When ready to return to earth, the pilots will detach the balloon and cruise down for about 40 minutes under a steerable parafoil. The capsule will land as a paraglider, deploying a set of skids upon which to land.
